System engineering is an interdisciplinary role that focuses on the design, integration and management of complex systems. The role of the Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer encompasses the complete product design and development life cycle including system concept development, system architecture, design, build, verification / qualification, certification support and in-service support. This includes supporting system and equipment qualification test activities.
The Mechanical Systems Engineer will be expected to work both independently and within a cross-functional team environment. The successful candidate will be expected to be a customer technical point of contact and may be required to lead global Honeywell resources and external suppliers to define and align product designs with customer requirements.
The Mechanical Systems Engineer is expected to manage their time according to the demands of the programme and the department. A degree of working outside of normal hours may occur given the global aspects of the customer locations and the Honeywell Corporation. Occasional travel to customer locations or internally within Honeywell sites may be required.
**Responsibilities**
+ The complete product (Life Support System) life cycle, including leading and co-ordinating:
+ System architecture definition, development and detailed design, which will involve interfacing to system performance analysis, system safety, system testing, electronic controls and the chief engineering organization.
+ Requirements management, involving:
+ The review and flow down of customer requirements to system and equipment specifications; including pneumatic equipment, electro-mechanical equipment and electronic controllers.
+ The identification of requirement means of compliance and the co-ordination of verification / qualification activities to ensure compliance to the customer requirements.
+ Global Honeywell resources and external suppliers to define and align product designs with customer requirements.
+ Monitoring and reporting of system and equipment design / development status to internal and external customers.
+ Liaising closely with other functions, including Project Management, Design, Test, Analysis, Reliability & System Safety, Electronic Controls, Chief Engineers, Manufacturing, Suppliers and Customers as and when necessary.
+ Being a customer technical point of contact
**YOU MUST HAVE**
+ Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, preferably in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Systems Engineering. However, other relevant degrees or equivalent qualifications would be considered along with experience.
+ Experience in mechanical systems engineering design and development.
+ Strong knowledge of pneumatic or mechanical system design principles and methodologies.
+ Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, including ability to interpret test results
+ Experience in requirements management, validation and verification
+ Strong communication and collaboration abilities.

- Experience in design consultancy or contractor environments, ideally within nuclear or high-hazard industries.
- Familiar with BREEAM/DREAM, Building Regulations, and energy efficiency/decarbonisation methods.
- Strong organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
