Our client is an innovative and advancing Biotech with recent ground breaking therapy advancements, aimed at transforming patients lives in a key area of unmet need. As part of continued upscale in Europe and for the UK Medical Affairs team, they now seek an additional experienced and motived Medical Liaison to join the team – Covering the London region and South/South West region of the UK.
You will be joining at a pivotal time, as the group finalises preparations for the proposed launch during 2026.
Reporting directly to the UK Medical Affairs Director, the Medical Science Liaison for London & South UK will be tasked with the evolvement of engagements at key centres of excellence with the associated peers, clinicians, healthcare professionals and KOLs.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Building scientific partnerships with associated Healthcare Professionals, decision makers and broader stakeholders
- Collaborate and network using evidence-based science and non-promotional scientific exchange
- Serve as a key regional point of contact for the latest scientific and clinical information on the therapeutic area the clients research program. Engaging with - Thought leaders, academic centres, healthcare organisations, regional professional organisations and all relative patient associations
- Strategically support the development and utilisation of field medical materials, including - Disease education and diagnostics via incorporation of the latest guidelines and scientific publications
- Identify, develop and maintain relationships with leading influential experts, key thought leaders and health care professionals (HCPs) in associated speciality areas and research centres
- Engage in scientific exchange relative to the disease area and exchange of associated clinical data
- Attend both local/national and international scientific congresses and professional society meetings as required
- Support the execution of medical plans – representing the client via scientific engagement across the community in relation to the wider research fields associated to Endocrinology Hepatology, Gastroenterology, Diabetes and Liver Disease
The position ideally requires an established UK based MSL, with associated abilities and credentials in both build planning and preparations for launches, plus post launch activities and ongoing territory assigned management.
You will have a demonstrative industry background in high level scientific exchange in a regional UK Medical Liaison and Scientific Advisory function, plus proven abilities in assembling and delivering relative scientific and medical information for the associated therapy indication.
Highly beneficial – Understanding of business elements and involvements associated to working within a new and developing group. Credentials associated that show adaptability to working ‘hands on’ and in an autonomous self-lead environment, combined with a strong team collaboration attitude, knowledge sharing approach and creative outlook.
Ideally, you will have worked within Medical Affairs in industry (Biotech/Biopharma or innovative science fields in small/mid-size Pharma) for circa 3+ years. Working directly in the regional Medical Liaison function for 2+ years to date in the UK.
Experience working in smaller growth Biotech, or associated new innovative development groups, would certainly be very advantageous, combined with the adaptability to ‘do what needs to be done’ and quickly establish relative connections within the associated territory.
Qualifications & Experience Required:
- UK National – Ideally located in London / London surround (Or) UK South region
- Advanced medical/scientific degree: MD / PhD / Pharmacy Degree (Or) MSc – Also considered with relative industry Medical Affairs and MSL experience 3+ Years
- Experience relative either in industry direct, research relative, or combined: Hepatology, Gastroenterology, Liver Disease, Endocrinology / Diabetes or NASH/MASH
- Medical Affairs industry experience: Circa 3+ Years
- Working as a UK regional Medical Science Liaison: 2+ Years
- Ability to travel regionally as required weekly, up to - Circa 70%
- Experience working in developing and growth organisations preferable, combined with attributes including flexibility and being adaptable, plus working in a growth organisation, with a strong collaborative and team knowledge sharing ethics

- Project manage national activities for a designated therapy area
- Contribute to the development of medical strategy and planning
- Engage with KOLs in scientific exchange, and develop and maintain meaningful relationships across the territory
- Share relevant insights within medical and cross-functional teams
- Support and deliver medical training of commercial field teams
- Involvement in UK clinical research activities
- Provide coaching and support to the wider field medical group
- Ensure adherence to company SOPs and the ABPI Code
- Input into cross functional plans and provide scientific expertise and advice as needed
- Represent the business and medical team at local, regional and global congress and symposia
The Candidate:
- Relevant Science based degree with advanced Degree level seen as desirable
- Several years of UK focused MSL experience
- Demonstrable experience in building and maintaining KOL relationships
- Knowledge of clinical trial processes and regulatory requirements
- Any therapy area background can be considered and candidates with multi-therapy area or multi-product portfolio experience is preferred
- Experience in and knowledge of the different UK healthcare systems
- Effectively assimilate scientific and clinical data to the relevant audience
