**Job Summary:**
Primary responsibility of this role is to work with industry partners, architects and designers, on specifying Caterpillar supplied equipment into their vessel designs. This is a critical role to ensure that our partners in the industry are aware of Caterpillar's products for marine vessels, not only what we have today but what we are developing for the future.

**What You Will Do:**
+ You will work together with internal Caterpillar and dealer teams to influence new ship design activity at shipyards, naval architects, and contractors.
+ The incumbent must have the ability to understand vessel design criteria and then act as a design partner to identify and develop the right Caterpillar solution that best achieves those ship requirements.
+ Responsible for influencing power systems specifications during the concept study and preliminary design phase of shipbuilding programs
+ Ability to incorporate commercial aspects into the technical decision-making process
+ Develop propulsion and power generations solutions that enable new ship designs to meet their stringent requirements. Be capable of applying creative thought and critical thinking skills through the early phases of ship design.

Role Overview
A Senior Naval Architect will be required as part of the Naval and Marine Operation Team in Basingstoke (UK) to support Eni's activities worldwide on different Projects and provide technical leadership within the Naval discipline.
Responsibilities (including but not limited to)
- Performing concept selection and design of floating structures for different project phases (i.e. Basic, FEED, Detailed Design and Execution).
- Design and follow-up of the engineering activities as well as the construction of floating structures (FPSO, FLNG, LNG carriers, both new-built and converted) according to International Standards and Classification Society requirements.
- Preparation of engineering documentation for EPCI Contract ITT (e.g. EPCI Scope of Work, Floater Functional Specification, Philosophies, Mooring and Structural Design Brief, etc ).
- Review of Tender documentation, participate to Tender clarification meetings and perform technical evaluations of tenderers.
- Perform hull structural analyses.
- Perform floater analyses on motion response amplitude operators and quadratic transfer functions.
- Perform mooring analyses.
- Perform stability analyses.
- Teamwork and collaboration with other colleagues in the Naval and Marine Operation department.
- Keep abreast of Floating structures and Installation design standards.
- Attend technical and coordination meetings.
- Awareness of Floating structures and Installation design standards requirements and correct application of Company HSEQ policies.
- Liaise with other disciplines (offshore structures, Pipelines, process, mechanical, CAD etc ) during project phases.
- Be the Technical Coordinator as far as naval aspects are concerned with respect to liaisons with Contractor, waiver request and compliance with project requirements and standard.
Experience
- Experience in the Oil and Gas industry in particular with respect to floating structures, e.g. FPSO, FLNG, LNG.
- Hull structure design knowledge.
- Floaters Hydrodynamic analysis.
- Knowledge of mooring systems, e.g. spread, single point and turret systems and their application on harsh environments such as North Sea or Cyclonic area.
- Floater's superstructures and outfitting design (e.g. living quarters), general arrangement development.
- Knowledge of software like DNVGL SESAM suite, Autocad, MOSES, ORCAFLEX;
- Knowledge of standards for floating Structures design (IACS societies, ISO, API, IMO) and Offshore Installation (DNVGL).
- Experience on installation analyses (fixed platforms, floaters) would be advantageous.

This technical role entails working with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers to design, implement and test our Controls & Automation Systems solutions to meet both customer and marine classification society requirements.
**In this role you will focus on:**
+ Supporting the engineering activities during the production of control systems from the receipt of an order to handing over to the customer after commissioning and testing on the vessel at sea.
+ Providing a technical interface to customers, classification societies, and suppliers.
+ Producing design, installation, and test documentation; maintaining this documentation throughout the project cycle.
+ Working with the Drawing Office to produce equipment drawings, electrical wiring diagrams, cable interconnection drawings, and interface schedules.
+ Performing the functional design of HMI, PLC Architecture, Networks, and Communications Interfaces using standard hardware and software components.
+ Writing PLC software using IEC 61131-3 programming languages e.g., Ladder diagram (LD), Function block diagram (FBD), Structured text (ST), Instruction list (IL), and Sequential function chart (SFC).
+ Designing, tagging, and testing control system mimics using HMI SCADA packages.
+ Managing change during the project lifecycle using appropriate change management processes.

**Essential requirements:**
+ Sole British citizenship with a valid British Passport ("UK Eyes only").
+ Possession of or ability to obtain security clearance to SC (Security Check) level.
+ A relevant degree in Electrical, Electronics or Industrial Control Systems Engineering (or equivalent), or significant relevant experience gained in a professional engineering environment.

Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the maintenance and repair of marine engines and equipment.
- Learn and apply welding, pipefitting, and machining techniques.
- Conduct diagnostic tests on mechanical and electrical systems.
- Follow technical drawings and specifications.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Participate in practical training sessions and theoretical study.
- Work effectively as part of a team under supervision.
- Report progress and any issues encountered to senior technicians.
- Minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above, including Maths, Science, and English, or equivalent.
- A genuine interest in mechanical engineering and the maritime industry.
- Good practical aptitude and manual dexterity.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
- Ability to follow instructions and work safely.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
