One of the UK's leading providers of industrial forecourt equipment, are seeking someone with suitable experience & NEBOSH qualified to join their Health & Safety team.
Job Purpose :
Responsible for planning, implementing and overseeing the company's employee safety at work programme, helping to drive and maintain a safety-first culture across all levels.
Ensuring the company adheres to all Health and Safety Legislation and guidelines by coordinating and driving the health and safety activities.
Collaborating and obtaining buy in from all levels when producing or amending all company health and safety documentation by building and maintaining key relationships at senior level.
Responsibilities:
Group Health and Safety
- Maintaining and improving the Health and Safety System, create reports and assign corrective actions ensuring the information is up to and compliant
- Update and maintain the corrective action log and analyse and report on any trends in non-conformities
- Compile and review the risk assessment database; follow up with site managers as needed
- Carry out inductions and onboard new employees and workers on to training system and safe systems of working, ensuring records are kept and maintained
- Administer and maintain the company hazard reporting system, follow up corrective actions and analyse and report on any trends in non-conformities
- Organise, attend and minute all Health and Safety Committee Meetings
- Conduct regular site safety walkarounds & inspection by involving line managers and sharing the findings with relevant Departmental Managers.
- Manage the availability of the Safety PPE stocks, creation of PO's liaising with suppliers/contractors.
- Ensure actions from of all H&S audits, internal and external are completed and actioned.
- Maintenance of all third-party accreditations and certifications, including BS EN ISO 14001, BS EN ISO 45001 and BS EN ISO 50001
- Build relationships with management across the organisation to become a trusted and respected business partner
- Working with the support of Mentor, prepare, develop and advise management on safety strategies and any changes to the
- Undertake the distribution, collation and review of all staff DSE Assessments, ensuring all employees complete the assessment within a timely manner, review with their manager any control measures required and ensure these are put in place
- Work with External Health and Safety Consultant to support the management of safe operational procedures which identify and consider all relevant hazards.
- Manage and co-ordinate on-line e-learning with HR
- Manage and maintain Company Training Matrix
- Arrange training courses in accordance with procedures -
- Carry out health and safety inductions for all new starters as relevant to their role.
- Responsible for maintaining records of inspections findings, risk assessments, job safety analysis sheets, training and all related health and safety documentation.
- Responsible for maintaining and updating records of incidents and accidents, producing statistics and implementing corrective/ preventive actions.
- Prepare regular board reports to communicate the key H & S aspects of the business.
- Prequalify Subcontractors & suppliers and maintain matrix
- Undertake weekly fire safety checks and maintain register for both buildings. Co-ordinate annual fire evacuations and record outcomes
- Maintain accreditation memberships - CHAS, Safe contractor, Altius, Alcumas, Avetta, Builders Profile and other client specific portals
- Complete client prequalification questionnaires
- Coordinate & maintain register of PPM / statutory inspections / calibration

Boeing Defence UK is offering an opportunity to join their dynamic Safety Management System (SMS) team dedicated to ensuring the safety of our Products and Services. The successful candidate will become part of a large, multidisciplinary SMS team comprising approximately 20 experienced professionals in the deployment and sustainment of the SMS within the Boeing Defence UK Chinook Programme.
The successful candidate will lead the SMS within the UK Chinook Programme and will be responsible for ensuring an effective SMS is maintained in this crucial UK MoD programme.
**The role has the following key responsibilities:**
Lead the Safety Management Systems for the Boeing UK Chinook Programme.
+ Lead the Safety Risk Management strategy for the Programme to effectively derive hazards and risks.
+ Lead the facilitation of Hazard Identification working groups to create, review and mature BowTies.
+ Sustain a Positive Safety Culture
Lead the management of all Chinook safety occurrence reports and investigations ensuring the quality and completeness of all reports.
+ Perform Safety Investigations in response to the triaging of safety reports.
+ Interface with both internal and external key stakeholders in the processing and managing safety reports and issues.
+ Lead Safety Promotion activities in support of the Programme. Manage the SMS meetings schedule for the Programme ensuring effective audit trail and management of actions and deadlines. Creation and maintenance of SMS documentation relating to the Chinook Programme SMS. Establish and maintain SMS interface with the MoD Air Safety Teams and key Suppliers to the Programme. Delivery of SMS training as required to support compliance with regulation and BDUK procedures.
Travel within the UK is expected and some overseas travel may be required.
**Essential competencies, experience and qualities:**
+ Formal Safety Management Systems training and experience and significant experience in aviation maintenance and/ or engineering.
+ Training in Safety Risk Management and experience in utilising BowTie methodology.
+ Experience and understanding of military aviation regulations and their application.
+ Qualified Safety Investigator with experience in conducting and leading safety investigations over several years.
+ A sound understanding of Just Culture principles and their application.
+ Experience in managing large volumes of safety reports using military or civil reporting tools and processes.
+ Experience in working across multiple functions and levels to build relationships and understanding to build trust and a positive safety culture.
+ The candidate should possess strong communication and organisational skills and demonstrate the ability to use common IT and project management concepts/tools.
+ The role will have significant UK MoD customers, supplier and wider Boeing interfaces and, therefore, a person who possesses good interpersonal skills balanced with diplomacy and resolve is essential.
**Desirable competencies:**
+ Qualified and experienced Human Factors trainer.
+ Experience using the MoD's ASIMS tool for in-service occurrence monitoring and trending or a civil equivalent system.
+ Experience in data analytics.
