Our client, a leading telecommunications provider recognised for its advanced network infrastructure and innovative services, is looking for a highly skilled Senior Network Engineer to join their completely remote operations team. This role is pivotal in designing, implementing, and managing complex IP and optical networks that underpin critical communication services. You will be responsible for ensuring network performance, reliability, and security, while also contributing to the architecture and deployment of next-generation network solutions. - Design, configure, and deploy IP/MPLS networks, including routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), switching, and firewall technologies.
- Oversee the installation, maintenance, and optimisation of optical transport networks (DWDM, SONET/SDH).
- Monitor network performance, troubleshoot complex issues, and implement solutions to ensure high availability and resilience.
- Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including network operations, planning, and security, to deliver seamless service.
- Lead the evaluation and integration of new network technologies and vendor solutions.
- Plan and execute network upgrades and capacity expansions.
- Ensure network security best practices are implemented and maintained.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior network engineers.
- Participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support for critical network incidents.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in network engineering, with a strong focus on telecommunications environments.
- Expertise in IP networking, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, IS-IS), MPLS, and traffic engineering.
- Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting routers and switches from major vendors (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Nokia).
- Strong understanding of optical networking technologies (DWDM, OTN, SONET/SDH).
- Experience with network security principles and technologies (firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS).
- Relevant industry certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, JNCIP, or JNCIE are highly desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and diagnostic skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote team environment.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects and deliver solutions under pressure.
