-Troubleshoot Network Issues: Diagnose and troubleshoot network issues, including those escalated by lower tiers of support.
-Implement Network Security Measures: Design and implement network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware from threats and unauthorized access.
-Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work closely with executive team members, decision-makers, and stakeholders to define business requirements and systems goals, and to identify and resolve business systems issues.
-Create and Maintain Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks, including network diagrams, configuration details, and operational procedures.
-Mentor Team Members: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior network engineers and other team members, helping them to develop their skills and knowledge.
-Automate Network Tasks: Develop and implement automation scripts to streamline network management tasks and improve efficiency.
-Plan for Service Outages: Plan for and respond to service outages and other network-related problems, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
-Support Network Upgrades: Perform network maintenance and system upgrades, including service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations.
-Evaluate New Technologies: Stay up-to-date with the latest networking technologies and evaluate their potential benefits for the organization and our customers.
**Desired skills, experience, qualifications:**
-Experience with networking layer 2 and layer 3.
-Good understanding of network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, VLANs).
-Proficiency in network design and implementation tools (e.g., Visio, Cisco Packet Tracer).
-Experience with network management and monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios).
-Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
-Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
-Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or JNCIA.
Additional Considerations
-Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VMware / KVM / RHEV /Xen / ProxMox / CXP-NG is beneficial.
-A strong understanding of data centre networking and technologies is advantageous.
