**Job Description**
As the Senior Power Systems Engineer- Railway Systems see you shape the technical direction of complex rail electrification projects, influencing design from pre-bid all the way through to delivery. You'll work on multi-megawatt power systems, advanced converter technologies, and ensure robust compliance with Network Rail and Grid Code standards.
You'll be the go-to technical expert within a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, applying modelling, simulation, and innovation to electrify rail networks more reliably, efficiently, and sustainably.
**What You'll Do**
- Act as the technical authority on railway power systems, power quality, and EMC impacts
- Design and model multi-MW rail electrification systems, including power converters and protection schemes
- Provide guidance to cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, and delivery teams
- Lead technical analysis using tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, ETAP, or DigSilent
- Support full lifecycle project activity from pre-bid, tendering, through to execution and validation
- Ensure all solutions comply with applicable Network Rail, national grid, and international standards
- Represent GE in technical discussions with customers, suppliers, and industry bodies
- Contribute to the ongoing power systems strategy for rail and utilities within the UK and globally
- Drive innovation and technology adoption to meet the demands of future railway infrastructure
- Collaborate with sales and business development teams in technical workshops and customer engagement
- Support timely and quality-driven project delivery, balancing cost and performance.
**What You'll Bring**
- Degree in Electrical/Power Engineering, ideally with a focus on power systems
- Significant experience in railway power systems, grid connection, and power quality/EMC
- Strong knowledge of power electronic converter systems in rail or industrial settings
- Track record of designing or reviewing rail electrification systems (HV/MV/LV)
- Familiarity with engineering tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, ETAP, or DigSilent

Project Manager (Civil Engineering) Location: Worcester Our client, a leading UK construction company, is partnering with a Tier 1 civil engineering contractor to deliver a water treatment works project in the Worcester area. As a result, they are looking to appoint a Project Manager to take full ownership of this site-based role, leading the delivery of extensive groundworks, infrastructure installation, and water/sewage treatment structures. This is a vital, technically complex project requiring a hands-on, commercially astute leader with proven civil engineering delivery experience. Key Responsibilities Lead all phases of project delivery, from pre-construction through to completion, ensuring delivery against programme, budget, and quality KPIs. Manage day-to-day site operations, including supervision of labour, subcontractors, materials, and logistics. Maintain strict compliance with CDM Regulations and all relevant Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) protocols. Oversee technical documentation, including RAMS, permits, inspections, and quality audits. Liaise with client representatives, attend progress meetings, and proactively resolve issues. Maintain and report on project programmes, cost controls, risk registers, and performance metrics. What We’re Looking For Extensive experience in a Project Manager role within civil engineering or infrastructure construction Excellent leadership and people management skills Ideally have some knowledge and experience with Water Treatment AMP7 and AMP8 frameworks HND, NVQ Level 7, or equivalent qualification in a construction/civil engineering discipline. SMSTS or NEBOSH Construction Certificate, and a valid CSCS Managers Card IT literate; proficiency with project planning software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) is desirable This is an excellent opportunity to lead a critical infrastructure development project and join a contractor known for technical excellence and long-term career development.
