JOB DESCRIPTION & PERSON SPECIFICATION

1. Job Role & Purpose

Aspiro Healthcare is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Nurse Manager to lead, support and develop our nursing workforce across across four general practice sites in Derby. This key leadership role will combine strategic oversight, clinical governance and team development with a reduced clinical workload to allow for dedicated management time.

The successful candidate will be a registered nurse with proven leadership experience and a strong background in primary care. This role involves both clinical duties and team leadership, supporting the delivery of patient-centred care and contributing to the ongoing development of our services.

2. Key Duties & Responsibilities

Leadership and Team Management

  • Provide visible leadership across all four sites, promoting a culture of professionalism, learning and continuous improvement
  • Line manage the nursing team including Practice Nurses, HCAs, and other allied nursing roles, ensuring appropriate skill mix and service coverage
  • Lead regular team meetings and facilitate open communication across the nursing workforce
  • Develop and deliver structured supervision, coaching and performance review processes
  • Ensure effective induction, ongoing support and competency assessment for all new and existing staff
  • Ensure all training, development and induction of Nursing Team members are undertaken in line with practice policies and procedures

Clinical Oversight and Governance

Clinical Oversight and Governance

  • Ensure high standards of care in line with NMC code, national guidance, local protocols and CQC requirements
  • Oversee infection prevention and control, immunisation standards, and chronic disease management delivery
  • Work with the Leadership Team and Clinical Leads to ensure compliance with safeguarding, patient safety and clinical effectiveness frameworks
  • Maintain and audit documentation standards and clinical protocols

Strategic Planning and Service Delivery

  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of sustainable nursing services aligned to patient need and practice priorities
  • Work in partnership with other clinicians and managers to identify opportunities for service development, workforce expansion and pathway redesign. Support delivery of QOF, Enhanced Services, and financial targets through effective team performance and data-driven planning
  • Embed evidence-based practice and national best practice standards in long-term conditions

Performance Monitoring and Activity Measurement

  • Develop and maintain nursing activity and performance dashboards to monitor workload, outcomes and quality metrics
  • Regularly review clinical throughput, appointment usage, and patient feedback to drive improvement
  • Identify under performance and implement supportive interventions where needed
  • Provide quarterly reporting to the leadership team on workforce metrics, including capacity, clinical output, and audit findings

3. Clinical Commitment

The Nurse Manager will maintain a reduced clinical caseload (typically one to two sessions per week) to retain patient contact and clinical competence. This allows most of the working week to be allocated to management, supervision and strategic leadership responsibilities.

4. Person Specification

Essential:

  • Registered Nurse with active NMC registration
  • Significant experience in a primary care setting, including autonomous management of long-term conditions
  • Demonstrable leadership or management experience within a clinical team
  • At least one formal qualification in a long-term condition area (e.g. diabetes, asthma/COPD, cardiovascular disease)
  • Strong knowledge of QOF, CQC compliance, safeguarding, infection control, and governance requirements
  • Excellent interpersonal, coaching and communication skills
  • Ability to work across multiple sites and manage competing priorities
  • Strong IT skills including clinical systems (e.g. SystmOne/EMIS) and reporting tools

Desirable:

  • Leadership or management qualification (e.g. ILM, NHS Leadership Academy)
  • Experience in staff performance management or workforce planning
  • Evidence of leading clinical audits or quality improvement initiatives
  • Familiarity with workforce and activity dashboards or reporting frameworks

6. Health & Safety

  • The post-holder will assist in promoting and maintaining their own and others' health, safety and security as defined in the Aspiro health & safety policy, the health & safety manual, and the Aspiro infection control policy and published procedures. This will include:
  • Using personal security systems within the workplace according to Aspiro guidelines
  • Identifying the risks involved in work activities and undertaking such activities in a way that manages those risks;
  • Making effective use of training to update knowledge and skills;
  • Using appropriate infection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy and safe way and free from hazards;
  • Active reporting of health and safety hazards and infection hazards immediately when recognised;
  • Keeping own work areas generally clean and overseeing Site Managers in the maintenance of general standards of cleanliness consistent with the scope of their role
  • Undertaking periodic infection control training (minimum annually);
  • Reporting potential risks identified to the Aspiro Management

**To be considered for this position you must be qualified as a Registered Nurse with a current active NMC Pin**

As the Deputy Manager your key responsibilities include:

  • Alongside the Home Manager, you will manage and have responsibility for all aspects of the service in line with CQC requirements
  • You will ensure the service users are receiving the highest standards of professional support experiencing life opportunities helping to promote growth and independence

The following skills and experience would be preferred and beneficial for the role :

  • Previous Deputy Home Manager experience
  • The ability to engage with the service users to understand their needs in order to provide excellent services of care
  • Good working knowledge of CQC standards
  • The ability to build and maintain excellent working relationships with external care professionals/ families/ visitors and staffing teams
  • Promote ownership of care programs by fully involving service users and their families in developing/ agreeing and evaluating care programs within the home

The successful Deputy Manager will receive an excellent annual salary of £55,000 per annum. This exciting position is a permanent full time role working 40 hours a week from 9am to 5pm. In return for your hard work and commitment you will receive the following generous benefits:

This nursing home will offer nursing, dementia, residential care, mental healthcare and specialist learning disability services to its residents

**To be considered for this role you must be qualified as a Registered Nurse with a current active NMC Pin**

As the Deputy Manager your key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting and deputising for the Home Manager, you will provide inspiring leadership to nursing and care colleagues and oversee the delivery of high quality clinical and pastoral care
  • You will be the homes nurse expert and your role will be a combination of utilising your nursing skills as well as your managerial and leadership skills
  • You will focus on residents with complex needs, so it's vital that you can conform with the latest guidelines, take far-reaching decisions and maintain the highest levels of clinical governance, whilst regularly auditing practices and procedures
  • Care plan development and assessments
  • Look after all our residents alongside the team and offer personalised centred care

The successful Deputy Manager will receive an excellent salary £24.50 per hour and the annual salary is £50,960 per annum. This exciting position is a permanent full time role for 40 hours a week working through day shifts. In return for your hard work and commitment you will receive the following generous benefits:
