Job description:

Full time (40hrs) Oil & Gas Trainer required.

Part time/Job Share considered.

South West Peninsular Training is a well-established training centre based in South Somerset.

We provide high quality training and assessments to essential trades people, either looking to renew current qualifications or expand scope. We also train completely new entrants to the gas, oil and electric industry.

Qualifications presented at the Centre are relevant to both the Domestic and Commercial sectors of the UK Gas and Oil industries, so applicants for the post are required to hold the relevant skills and experience on the subjects they wish to teach. Prospective candidates must have relevant industry experience and hold valid ACS/OFTEC certification.

Certification for Level 3 Education & Training is an advantage, or the willingness to work towards this in their own time. Successful candidates will also get the opportunity to work towards Assessor qualifications if they do not already hold them.

Qualifications in renewable energies and internal verification are also an advantage.

The applicant does not need to hold all of the above competencies to apply and we will consider applicants who can work within only one of these sectors.

All prospective candidates must be able to carry out their duties impartially and without prejudice. Any applicant must be occupationally competent, confident when addressing a small group of strangers, be punctual, approachable, reliable and smart in appearance.

Monday-Friday, 8.45am – 5.15pm. 32 days holiday per annum (full time) including Bank Holidays.

• Master's degree or PhD in Geology, Petroleum Geology, or a related earth science discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in subsurface geology within the upstream oil and gas industry.
• Proficiency in geological modelling software (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom Suite, GeoGraphix).
• Strong understanding of seismic interpretation, well log analysis, and core analysis techniques.
• Experience with basin analysis, sequence stratigraphy, and structural geology.
• Knowledge of reservoir characterization and uncertainty analysis.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.
• Strong communication and presentation abilities, with experience presenting to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

• Develop and execute reservoir simulation models to predict reservoir performance and forecast production.
• Analyze well performance data, pressure transient data, and production history to understand reservoir behavior.
• Identify opportunities for enhanced oil recovery (EOR) and implement strategies to maximize hydrocarbon extraction.
• Perform material balance calculations, decline curve analysis, and other analytical techniques.
• Prepare detailed reservoir engineering reports, including reserve estimations and development plans.
• Collaborate with geologists, production engineers, and other disciplines to develop integrated field development plans.
• Evaluate the economic viability of development projects and optimize production strategies.
• Contribute to the selection of optimal well locations and completion strategies.
• Stay abreast of the latest technologies and methodologies in reservoir engineering.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company policies.
• Present findings and recommendations to management and project teams.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Significant experience as a Reservoir Engineer within the oil and gas industry.
• Proficiency in reservoir simulation software (e.g., ECLIPSE, Petrel RE, Tempest).
• Strong analytical skills and experience with production data analysis and interpretation.
• Knowledge of formation evaluation techniques and fluid properties.
• Experience with reserve estimation methods and economic evaluation.
• Familiarity with EOR techniques and technologies.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Experience in offshore or specific geological environments is a plus.

• Significant experience (5+ years) as a Reservoir Engineer within the upstream Oil & Gas sector.
• Proficiency with reservoir simulation software (e.g., ECLIPSE, INTERSECT, STARS).
• Strong understanding of reservoir characterization, fluid flow in porous media, and reservoir management.
• Experience in production forecasting, reserves estimation, and economic evaluation.

• Proven experience in a supervisory role within the Oil & Gas industry.
• Extensive knowledge of oil and gas field operations, including drilling, production, and maintenance.
• Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations and best practices in the industry.
• Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and in challenging environments.
• Proficiency in using relevant field equipment and technology.
• A valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
• Experience with emergency response procedures.
• Relevant industry certifications or qualifications are highly desirable.
