The Site Engineer role:
As a member of the project team reporting to the project manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, coordination and leadership of a number of sub-contractors employed in a variety of trades within the respective area of works, as well as a number of key tasks on site, including; setting out, progress mark ups, Q&A, surveying, creating reference points, keeping records, etc.
The role requires some level of interfacing between internal departments and external agencies, such as Architects, Engineers, Construction Workers, Sub-contractors
Site setting out and survey control experience necessary to put men to work.
Ability to read and take-off materials from drawings and raise requisitions.
Record keeping and short term planning ability for direct and package managed works.
Sufficient technical knowledge to produce and review RAMs for direct and sub-contract works.
Working with the Commercial staff write the Scope of Works for each package, for which you are responsible for
Managing technical aspects of the on and off site works
Review package tender information produced by design teams and comment where appropriate
You'll also be involved in regular site progress meetings with sub-contractors to monitor progress, quality and safety, etc. to ensure the Chief Engineer and Project Manager/Project Director are updated on all issues
Your profile
Ideally a Degree in civil engineering, Construction Management or related field
Ability to prepare a 3 week look-ahead programme with assistance of project planner
Proven working experience in package management and ideally within a variety of disciplines such as cladding/facades, drainage, etc.
An understanding of all facets of the construction process and overall construction/civil engineering industry
Familiarity with construction software packages, Planning/Programme Techniques
Has an understanding of collaboration and the need to develop internal and external relationships
Ability to prioritise, plan, schedule and evaluate works
Effective written and communication skills
Knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards
A passion for completing jobs effectively, on time and with quality in mind

Responsibilities
As a Site Engineer you'll be working within the Nuclear team, supporting them in delivering the redevelopment project at the Dockyard
Your day to day will include:
Assist in the recording and testing of workmanship and materials, i.e., drainage, concrete, piling, brickwork etc.
Assist in providing engineering support to ensure technical problems are overcome and technical queries are answered.
Responsible for setting out works constructed within allowable tolerances.
Regularly checking the setting out points and benchmarks and checking that all setting out instruments and measuring equipment are delivered to site with a calibration certificate and recorded accordingly.
Responsible for providing and maintaining setting out and dimensional control, to ensure accurate construction of the work.

Degree qualification in civil engineering or equivalent is desirable – one or more of: BSc, BA, BEng, Meng, Eng, Tech, MICE, TIStructE, LCIBSE, LCIBSEEng Tech, Completion of Higher Apprenticeship.

- Managing engineering workloads and liaising closely with site teams, contracts managers, and the chief engineer
