Location: Durham, NC (100% onsite)
This role is based out of Durham, however, involves travel to multiple facilities within the North Carolina region.
Description:
5-20 hours per week; M-F – with occasional off-shift hours
Role Purpose:
The Occupational Health Nurse will provide nursing assessments, treatments and recommendations for client employees related to illness or injury within their Scope of Practice. General responsibilities include providing medical care by taking vital signs, assessing the patients’ injury, illness, document findings, formulate and educate on treatment plans, and perform medical interventions within the RN scope of practice.
General Duties & Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Document and maintain records related to the treatment of client's employees in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety Administration or similar country/national governing regulations as well as ensuring privacy and confidentiality rules are enforced.
Support the site’s medical Emergency Response Program
Disability Process – Provide proper guidance through the disability process and interact with insurance carriers, client's Benefits, Workers’ Compensation, Safety, and the Company Physician/Provider to facilitate processing of work-related illnesses or injuries. Ensure effective case management.
Absence management- utilize Client’s PIIM (post injury and illness management) program by working with Client’s carrier (work or non-work related) to enable early safe return to work via appropriate and monitored work accommodations.
Assist with tracking and managing FMLA requests based on medical information and company/legal protocol.
Performs regulatory required surveillance exams as indicated by current Occupational Health and Safety Administration or similar country/national standards.
Participate in Client's Health and Safety Programs including participation in the 24/7 Safety & Health initiatives provided by the company (such as smoking cessation, fitness program, blood drive, flu shots, weight watchers).
Participate in pandemic preparedness planning.
External interaction with Occupational Medical Providers, as necessary.
Overall responsibility for managing medical inventory.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 5+ years Registered Nurse Experience with Occupational Health experience preferred
Active and current state license.
Current CPR Certification.
BSN – bachelor’s degree in nursing
Timely and effective communication as demonstrated through strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated competency - Computer skills included Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Electronic Medical Record
Desired Qualifications:
Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN | COHN-S)
Emergency room, Intensive Care Unit or Med/Surg nursing experience
Creative in promoting health and safety activities
Prior Experience in a manufacturing environment or corporate health environment

As Nurse Manager at Medigold Health, you will be responsible for leading a team of Occupational Health Advisors, Nurses, and Technicians to ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality clinical services to our clients across the UK. Drawing on your clinical expertise and leadership experience, you will oversee day-to-day team management, support with recruitment and onboarding of new team members, and provide guidance on complex case management referrals. Main Objectives
- Practice within the scope of the NMC professional practice and Code of Conduct and to work according to qualification, experience, and competency.
- Responsible for the day-to-day personnel management of a team of allocated OHAs and Nurses and technicians.
- Active participation and flexibility to support recruitment activity for all nursing teams.
- The delivery of the Occupational Health Service to Medigold clients ensuring the provision of the occupational health advice is always of the highest standard.
- To act as an ambassador and promote the Occupational Health services available.
- To ensure clinical standards of best practice are followed and company policies and procedures are adhered to.
- To fully utilise company IT systems in the performance of duties.
- Undertake clinical supervision/peer and team audit in relation to service delivery as identified.
- Undertaking investigation and response to queries and complaints arising from team activities
- Taking on a clinical lead role as required
Specific Responsibilities
- Work autonomously and as part of the Medigold Health multi-disciplinary team to ensure that a satisfactory level of service is provided to all clients and their employees achieving current service level agreements this includes the completion of all clinical administration.
- Ensure skills and competencies are maintained to undertake core Occupational Health activities as required.
- Ensure that CPD and other training needs are undertaken to ensure compliance with NMC requirement for continuing registration. Maintain evidence in support of Revalidation.
- Ensure familiarity with the requirements of all appropriate client contracts and Aide Memoirs.
- Maintain, store, and handle medical records in accordance with Medigold-Health Data Protection Policy and GDPR requirements in order to preserve and respect client and employee medical confidentiality.
- Liaise with other service teams regarding both client and patient queries.
- Maintain Supervisory personnel Records for all team members.
- Undertake interviews, inductions, training, and appraisals for all team members to support continual professional development.
- Attend tender, client review and implementation meetings as required.
- Maintain competency matrix for all team members and provide support to fulfil NMC revalidation and maintain clinical competence.
- Assist Associate Director of Nursing in the organisation of any required clinical OHA training.
- Attend and actively participate in meetings as requested.
- Undertake regular scheduled Clinical audit as required.
- Take accountability for identifying, and boldly influencing and implementing improvements to the service provided from a clinical perspective, looking for opportunities to extend the Occupational Health products being offering.
Requirements for this role
- Trained to undertake all core Occupational Health clinical skills.
- Experienced skills and competency with case management activities undertaking complex referrals
- Occupational Health degree/Diploma & NMC registration is essential.
- Previous managerial and people management experience is essential.
- Demonstrable experience within Occupational Health departments, preferably private sector experience.
- Experience of participation in tender support meetings and presentations to potential clients would be beneficial.
