A leading consultancy firm specializing in electrical infrastructure is seeking a seasoned Senior Electrical Project Engineer to join their established team. This role is based at our offices in Leicester, Leicestershire, UK , and is not a remote position. You will be responsible for the end-to-end project management and technical delivery of electrical power distribution projects. Your duties will encompass detailed design, specification of equipment, project planning, site supervision, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will work on a variety of projects, including substations, distribution networks, and industrial power systems. A strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, power system analysis, protection schemes, and relevant industry standards (e.g., ENA, IEC) is essential. The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership and communication skills, with a proven ability to manage project teams, liaise with clients and contractors, and solve complex engineering challenges. Experience in project management methodologies and software is highly desirable. This is a crucial on-site role requiring active participation in project execution and client interaction.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design and engineering of electrical power distribution systems.
  • Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets.

  • Conduct detailed engineering calculations (e.g., load flow, short circuit, protection coordination).

Our client, a leading consultancy firm specializing in complex infrastructure projects, is seeking a highly experienced Principal Electrical Design Engineer to lead critical projects in Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear, UK . This senior role demands extensive expertise in the design and implementation of robust electrical power distribution systems for industrial, commercial, and public sector clients. The successful candidate will be responsible for technical leadership, project management, and mentoring junior engineers, ensuring the delivery of safe, efficient, and compliant electrical solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the electrical design process for large-scale projects, from conceptualization through to detailed design, construction, and commissioning.
  • Develop and review electrical system designs, including power distribution networks, switchgear, motor control centres, transformers, generators, and emergency power systems.
  • Ensure designs comply with all relevant national and international standards (e.g., BS 7671, IEC standards), building regulations, and client specifications.
  • Perform complex load calculations, short circuit analysis, and fault studies using industry-standard software (e.g., ETAP, Amtech).
  • Prepare and oversee the production of detailed electrical drawings, schematics, single-line diagrams, and equipment specifications.
