Key Responsibilities:
- Install, connect, and test fibre optic cables and associated equipment in residential and business premises.
- Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on the fibre optic network infrastructure.
- Identify and troubleshoot faults, ensuring minimal downtime and service disruption.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company procedures during site operations.
- Operate specialized testing equipment, such as OTDRs and fusion splicers.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including installation details, test results, and site surveys.
- Provide excellent customer service, explaining technical work to customers and ensuring their satisfaction.
- Work collaboratively with other field engineers and support teams.
- Manage assigned workload efficiently to meet project deadlines and service level agreements.
- Ensure company vehicles and equipment are maintained in good working order.
- Participate in ongoing training and development to stay current with industry technologies and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in fibre optic installation, splicing, and testing.
- Strong understanding of telecommunications networks and infrastructure.
- Familiarity with optical test equipment (e.g., OTDR, power meters).
- Excellent practical and technical skills.
- Full UK driving licence is essential.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a methodical approach to fault diagnosis.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Flexibility to work unsociable hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.
- Commitment to adhering to strict health and safety standards.
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Fibre Optics or Telecommunications Engineering is highly desirable.
- ECS card or similar certification is preferred.
