The Role

An Operational Excellence (OpEx) Lead role is held by someone who has a substantial background and exposure to management and deployment of OpEx in manufacturing and large programme environments. They demonstrate the ability to build, lead, engage and drive a small team, while earning and maintaining respect and trust. They demonstrate absolute accountability for their core duties and act as a key member of the Operational Excellence leadership. They are aware in terms of understanding the importance of blending strategic direction and tactical response activities.

Will be working with the delivery employees. Process mapping, problem solving. Holding or facilitating workshops. Practical problem solving.

Ideally looking for defence/aerospace background to ensure they can hit the ground running.

Role Responsibilities:

Not limited to.

• Regularly and consistently advocating and driving Operational Excellence principles through their leadership and work activities.
• Understanding the expectations of the External Customer group in terms of business operational and improvement performance, across Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery and People (SQCDP) metrics.
• Deploy their skills, knowledge and experience.
• Contributing to the strategic roadmap for true Operational Excellence deployment in the mid to long term, building awareness of it with all relevant stakeholders.
• Flowing down strategic objectives, ensuring they are appropriately owned and assured within the team.
• Leading elements of the strategy by linking activities for maximum benefit.
• Working with and reviewing company Key Performance Indicators (KPI's), to identify priority improvement areas and measure improvements.
• Identifying and proceduralising the routine review of sources of 'demand' for OpEx support across SQCDP, including reviewing alignment to the OpEx strategy and identity.
• Assuring that the OpEx programme of activities and projects is delivered and governed. Contributing to the definition of the programme to ensure it is made up of strategically aligned and tactical response projects, as defined by prevailing priorities.
• Responsible for successful delivery of projects.
• Building and managing effective project plans.
• Develop and deploy sustainable coaching and mentoring.

• Has some level of exposure to the principles of strategy definition and deployment.
• Has worked substantially in Operational Excellence and/or Continuous Improvement Programmes and initiatives.
• Has experience of deploying and managing OpEx toolsets and methodologies, in particular Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
• Has significant experience in leading improvement Projects and demonstrates competence in Project Management discipline.
• Is aware of the principles of Business Case preparation and management, benefit tracking and assurance.
• Demonsrates Change Management, Stakeholder Management and Communications awareness and leverages these in successful OpEx deployment.
• Is a confident presenter and facilitator, able to engage and influence a range of audiences.

• Organise and facilitates Business improvement / CI workshops within Programmes
• Trains, supports, coaches and mentors LSS GB / BB's

Security Requirements: SC, ITAR & UK EYES ONLY

This role will require the person to hold full Security Clearance (SC) prior to working onsite. You will need to obtain a BPSS check as part of this process. You must currently hold or be eligible and willing to obtain SC. In addition, this role involves direct and/or indirect access to ITAR Material which means there are restriction. The Umbrella rate quoted above is the Gross Umbrella rate (i.e. the rate we pay to the Umbrella Company inclusive of ALL employment costs). • Drive Continuous Improvement initiatives using tools such as Lean, Six Sigma, SMED, 5S, Root Cause Analysis, and Value Stream Mapping.
• Monitor and improve KPIs through data-led initiatives, benchmarking, and OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) analysis.
• Support operational teams in problem solving, corrective actions, and efficiency projects.
• Maintain and develop Power BI dashboards, Excel tools, and databases to ensure robust data integrity and effective performance monitoring.
• Participate in the integration of new equipment, processes, and technologies.
• Provide leadership on projects, champion CI culture, and deliver training across the site.

What we’re looking for:

• 3–5 years’ experience in a similar role, within food manufacturing or operational excellence.
• Six Sigma Yellow Belt is desirable
• Strong background in project management and process improvement.
• Proficiency in Power BI, Microsoft Office and particularly Excel (power queries, pivot tables, KPI dashboards).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
• A collaborative, positive attitude with the ability to coach, lead and engage teams.
• Flexible approach with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and occasionally work outside of normal hours.

The role

Your Main Responsibilities as a Associate Consultant:

• Client facing role, working hands-on with clients to assess their organisation, people, and processes, making and executing recommendations for improvements
• Manage the delivery of workstreams, plans, documentation, and BAs under more Senior Consultants in larger engagements
• Fully manage some client engagements as a developmental stretch
• Contributing strong business analysis skills during projects, overseeing Business Analysts to perform exceptional process mapping, data collection and data analysis duties – often this will require that the Consultant plays an active hands-on role in these duties
• Working with clients to support and coach their people in improvement methods
• Identifying opportunities for the sale of all Reinvigoration propositions based on needs
• Achievement of sales opportunities under the development and guidance of more experienced Senior Consultants, Principal Consultants and Leadership
• Management of tender responses and proposal creation to handle the sales aspect that comes prior to hands-on project delivery
• Producing project artefacts and documentation with a high degree of visual presentation and written skills
• Analysing data using traditional database/excel skills
• Conducting qualitative and quantitative data analysis to enable decisions to be made within projects, and to evidence project outcomes and business cases
• Mapping processes using a range of process mapping tools
• Producing policies, standard operating procedures, RACIs, toolkits and other operational artefacts for transformation implementation within clients
• Managing client SME stakeholders
• Facilitation of workshops with clients
• Leading training course delivery and preparation
• Supporting the creation of new products and learning material through contribution to storyboards, slides and production of written content
• Producing quality PowerPoint presentations to an industry leading commercially publishable standard

Your Background & Skillset:

Mandatory Skills

• A minimum of 5 years experience of internal or external consulting in process improvement
• Exceptional command of English language and must be a perfectionist with respect to outstandingly beautiful reports and slides
• Must have experience of producing proposal presentations for project sales, with experience of managing tender responses
• Strong business and data analysis skills
• Lean or other process improvement experience
• Consulting experience within another similar external consultancy
• Ability to manage client stakeholders at all levels
• Expert use of Microsoft Excel
• Proficient in the delivery of training courses
• Excellent verbal communication skills, confidently facilitating client workshops
• Ability to manage own time effectively to achieve deadlines. As this role is home-working at times, you must be able to pro-actively complete work rather than wait for tasks to be allocated to you

Desired Skills

• Formal qualifications in Business Administration, CI, Lean, Operational Excellence, Agile, PRINCE2, Business/Data Analysis, Data Visualisation

The location

The role is based from home and will involve travel across the UK to client sites.
