The Role:

The purpose of the role is to assist in the development, implementation, and sustainability of capable methods of manufacturing, including process improvements, problem solving, re-engineering, and delivering capital investments.

Main Responsibilities:

• Contribute and support the development and implementation of the best practice manufacturing vision, strategies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve operational performances.
• Identify business improvement opportunities in line with best practice within the industry.
• Develop the manufacturing capability and technology to ensure delivery of products that meet the product specifications and customer expectations.

• Work as part of the Operational Excellence Team to share ideas, improve operations, recommending, supporting and implementing continuous improvement activities, process and procedure improvements to optimise and improve machine efficiency and reduce breakdowns, in line with Company and customer requirements.
• Collaborate with all departments, to align continuous improvement initiatives and continue development of performance
• Develop and maintain strong and effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance.
• Recommend solutions without compromising on quality or service whilst optimising cost
• Stay current and up to date on technical knowledge to enable effect solutions.
• Contribute to new business initiatives and projects
• Participate in the delivery of capital investment projects
• Investigate and develop the potential use of AI within the business to support continual operational improvements

Knowledge, skills and experience required:

• Possesses a solid secondary education, including Maths and English
• HND or equivalent, with experience of working in a Manufacturing Engineer role or Foundation degree with some practical experience
• Previous experience working in a maintenance and/or engineering role
• Knowledge of relevant Engineering & Manufacturing standards and HSE regulations
• Strong data analytical skills
• Experienced in the use of problem-solving tools and techniques

Role & Responsibilities:

As an Operational Excellence Manager, you will be responsible for improving the operational efficiency, utilisation, and performance across the business. You will lead transformational projects using lean and operational tools such as: 5S, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, short interval control and change management. The role involves analysing production, wastage, and other performance data streams to prioritise, plan and action process improvement projects.

• Develop and implement operational transformation plans and site performance improvement plan (PIP) strategies that optimise production processes, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
• Develop, shape, and deploy SOPs and standard work within Operations.
• Managing operational budgets by analysing and identifying areas of cost savings whilst maintaining quality and safety standards.
• Working closely with cross-functional teams to lead process improvement initiatives such as structured problem-solving events and workshops, including team Kaizen events. Execute improvement activities like 5S, Value Stream Mapping events and Kaizen workshops.
• Develop a Continuous Improvement culture throughout the business including training, coaching and delivery of CI initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

• A minimum 3 to 5 years' experience in process improvement, quality management, and/or operations management within manufacturing or warehousing environments, of which at least 1-2 years are in operational excellence, lean six sigma or a management role.
• Proven experience in lean and transformation processes using tools and methodologies such as 5S, VSM, Lean Six Sigma, Root Cause Analysis, Statistical Process Control and in running Kaizen workshops.
• Strong project management skills
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, operations management, or a related field.
• Six Sigma/Kaizen/Lean Six Sigma (ideally Green belt)
