The Company

A leading independent power generation company with a diverse asset base, providing flexible and reliable energy solutions to support the UKs transition to a low-carbon future. The role

An opportunity has arisen to recruit a Lead Asset Management Engineer (Plant Integrity) to join the Central Engineering team for up to 18 months. The role will cover all live & future assets, so the base location is flexible.
The successful candidate will safely and effectively deliver the longer-term Engineering, Quality and Maintenance Strategy of the operational plants, as well as deliver effective support to com-plex breakdown and reliability issues.
The role holder will have expert mechanical knowledge and will act as the technical expert in all matters mechanical. They will also be responsible for the development and implementation of technical solutions to support safe plant performance.

It is expected that this role could spend 30-50% of their time working on construction projects, de-pendent on project volumes. Some periods will also require deputising for other roles, covering the other managerial positions on site and supporting the wider teams on short term second-ments.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, the key duties and responsibilities will be:

- Designing, developing and delivering the Engineering Strategy within the speciality.
- Be the technical expert of all matter's mechanical, particularly relating to PSSR.
- Oversight of engineering project development and implementation.
- Delivering innovative technical solutions.
- Supporting major plant outages.
- Establishing and maintaining agreements with key maintenance and operations service providers and contractors, supporting the fleet in contractor selection, tender creation, re-view and execution.
- Technical nomination processes and work with the site managers to ensure that all staff achieve their highest level of competence.
- Carrying out technical RCA, including cross site RCA investigations and promptly share the lessons from all incidents, share best practice across the fleet.
- Supporting the creation and challenge of site investment decisions.
- Delivering consistent Management of Change.
- Leading and supporting Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) design studies to ensure that supplied product is fit for purpose and complies to requirements both in terms of product dimensional accuracy and drawing quality.

Role Overview:

The Asset Management Programme Manager will manage the team that develops the risk models used to understand the network asset risk of the clients asset portfolio. They will ensure the models appropriately support business decision making and meet regulatory requirements. They will work closely with the regulator (Ofgem), as well as all departments with NGET to ensure our understanding of network risks is consistent and provides a platform for decision making. The range of insights from risk analytics developed by the team will be used to influence asset strategy, planning, and inform senior leaders in NGET and regulators of current and projected asset performance.

This is a new role to lead a new team which will require proven leadership skills in a complex and analytical space. Our vision is to build on our existing risk frameworks with a goal to systematising our whole network view of asset risk. The opportunity to be at the heart of the asset management function to influence the whole asset management plan brings with it a number of opportunities to develop, grow and become a key influencer in the client's transmission business

Responsibilities for the Role:

  • Lead and mentor the network risk and modelling team, fostering a culture of collaboration, inquisitiveness, and process excellence.
  • Develop a single value framework that will form the basis for our asset investment cost benefit analysis and overall risk and value forecast optimisation.

* Be responsible for inventory management of IT software assets throughout the IT Asset Management (ITAM) lifecycle

By working collaboratively, you will play a pivotal role in leading our important programmes and ensuring the successful implementation of asset management throughout the entire life cycle. Experience in managing infrastructure assets is essential. Initially, these roles will focus on Defence and Water and Wastewater infrastructure clients. As these roles require onsite time at the client's location, we are seeking candidates based in Scotland only.

Responsibilities:

Delivery focused:
  • Proven delivery experience in multiple areas of asset management and demonstrate the ability to manage multiple stakeholder requirements.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects/programmes of work that have delivery value to your organisation or clients.
  • Experience or a willingness to learn how to apply Agile delivery methodologies to manage and maintain delivery strategies for project teams and clients.

Technical:
  • A good understanding of the principles of Whole Life Asset management as outlined in international standards (ISO 55000), and you will be familiar with the Institute of Asset management Anatomy, standards, and principles.
  • Project management of multiple projects/work packages to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality solutions to our clients and understanding of Programme/Portfolio management.
  • Advisory and delivery capabilities in asset management, design & build engineering, Operational and maintenance management, that will deliver novel solutions for our clients.
  • Experience in supporting asset management maturity reviews or company auditing and provide high quality reports and feedback to clients to action.
  • Stay informed of digital innovative systems, tools and technology developments within the wider business and ability to align these to key client requirements to deliver new asset management solutions.
  • Understanding in investment management practices and how to apply investment requirements to client priorities to support decision making across the asset life cycle.

Behaviours:
  • Commercial awareness and strategic thinking, ability to tailor strategy and technical requirements to company demands.
  • Strong verbal and numerical reasoning skills, with practical examples of application through identification of solutions, articulation and buy-in from stakeholders.
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to convert client needs into strong business cases and solutions.

Experience:
  • We are looking for candidates with a range of experience in a leadership role in the defence, transportation, energy and water sectors, championing whole life asset management delivery.
  • Salary will be scaled based on experience.
  • Good knowledge of the Institute of Asset Management Anatomy, ISO55000 and either completed or working towards your Register of Asset Management Professional.
  • Good knowledge of applying Asset Management standards.
  • Good knowledge of asset management systems (e.g., EAM & Digital Twins) within the engineering sectors.
  • Experience of managing projects, project management qualifications such as Prince2 and NEC3/4 are desirable.
  • Ability to utilise data and carry out data analysis.
  • SharePoint configuration, PowerBI Reporting, and Power Automate are desirable.
