The role – Packaging Development Manager
Key Activities:
Team Leadership
Leading the packaging development team, in the development and implementation of packaging and processes. Ensuring the team is appropriately resourced, motivated and is aligned to evolving business priorities. Managing role lifecycle of direct reports and growing the competencies to support the delivery of the business strategy.
Technical Leadership
Accountable for technical leadership of the Packaging & Process team. Ensuring packaging solutions (NPD or CI) are consumer led, robustly validated and delivered through a smooth transition into manufacturing.
Responsible for processes (including trials, industrialization) which enable smooth transition of new products (food & pack) into production.
Accountable for the building and maintenance of robust technical specifications aligned with regulatory and quality requirements and business sustainability goals.
Project Delivery
Provides packaging & process technical guidance on projects to influence technical feasibility, approach and timeline.
Responsible for the delivery of projects to agreed timeline, budget and scope. Effectively identifying and mitigating risks to project delivery.
Ensuring accurate and appropriate alignment with relevant teams within LPRO, ECS and HQ with strong communication, collaboration and influencing skills.
Responsible for artwork management including external resource required for artwork production.
Supply Continuity
To manage continuity of supply for existing packaging & processes and identify and instigate changes to improve cost of goods, current product performance and/or process capability.
Skills and Qualifications:
An Appropriate qualification is required
Excellent command of English
Proven track record of hands – on multi-project management and delivery in packaging development
Line management abilities to coach, develop and grow associates
Sound technical knowledge of packaging technologies, functional packaging and manufacturing processes
Evidence of leading and delivering large technical work programs with a cross functional team
Strong ability to understand, interpret and challenge effectively the analysis of data presented by internal associates and external suppliers/consultants
Strong communication skills and influencing skills
Proven ability and aptitude to apply technical knowledge within a commercial environment
The successful candidate will have to complete background checks which may include a DBS check. All applicants must be located within the UK due to the recruitment and interview process.
