Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and innovation of new packaging concepts and materials for FMCG products.
- Manage the end-to-end packaging development process, from concept generation to commercial launch.
- Collaborate with marketing, R&D, supply chain, and manufacturing teams to ensure packaging meets all functional, aesthetic, and commercial requirements.
- Conduct rigorous testing and evaluation of packaging performance, including shelf-life, material integrity, and transportability.
- Identify and implement sustainable packaging solutions, including the use of recycled content, bio-based materials, and improved recyclability.
- Work closely with packaging suppliers to optimise designs, manage material specifications, and ensure quality standards.
- Develop and maintain detailed packaging specifications, drawings, and Bill of Materials (BOMs).
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes impacting packaging.
- Provide technical expertise and support to resolve packaging-related issues during production and in the market.
- Conduct cost analysis and value engineering exercises to optimise packaging costs without compromising quality.
- Present project updates, findings, and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in packaging development within the FMCG industry.
- Proven track record of successfully launching new packaging designs for consumer products.
- Strong knowledge of various packaging materials (e.g., plastics, paperboard, metal, glass) and their properties.
- Experience with packaging testing methods and equipment.
- Understanding of sustainability best practices in packaging.
- Excellent project management and organisational skills.
- Proficiency in CAD software for packaging design is a plus.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to thrive in a remote team environment.
- Familiarity with packaging converting processes and filling/sealing technologies.

+ Support packaging and device development work streams for R&D integral drug device combination and/or co-packaged product development projects.
+ Management of Design History File (DHF) documentation
+ Ownership of device work packages, co-ordinate testing activities (e.g. verification, validation, Design of Experiments, robustness studies) to ensure combination product safety and performance
+ Author device development documentation including Design History Files (DHF) and Risk Management Files (RMF).
+ Participate in packaging and device risk assessments (e.g. user, design or process risk assessments) as needed
+ Participate in design reviews at critical stages of development as needed
+ Supplementatry activities to support specific projects as required
**Essential Qualifications/Experience:**
+ Graduate in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or related degree
+ Experience of medical device or combination product development.
+ Understanding and experience of working within device regulatory requirements and industry processes such as design controls (21 CFR 820.30), EU MDR 2017/745, risk management (ISO 14971), QMS (ISO 13485) and GMP.
+ Experience in Design History File, Risk Management File, and design controls for combination product experience in the pharmaceutical industry
**Preferred Qualifications/Experience:**
+ Experience in sterile drug primary packaging development for large and small molecules including vial/stopper, pre-filled syringes, and cartridges presentations.
+ Knowledge of device and packaging requirements and regulations (i.e., current applicable FDA/MAA guidelines, USP/Ph Eur, etc, ISO).
+ Knowledge of integral and non-integral parenteral packaging materials (such as vials, stoppers, PFS, syringes, needles), components, vendors, analytical equipment, and technologies.
+ Experience in sterile drug primary packaging development for large and small molecules including vial/stopper, pre-filled syringes, and cartridges presentations.
+ Knowledge of domestic and international device and packaging requirements and regulations (i.e., current applicable FDA/MAA guidelines, USP/Ph Eur, etc, ISO).
+ Knowledge of statistical analysis and Design of Experiments
+ Ability to quickly establish relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
