As the Lead Pediatric Dental Nurse, you will be responsible for assisting dentists during a wide range of pediatric dental procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety at all times. You will sterilize instruments, prepare treatment rooms, and maintain accurate patient records. A key aspect of this role is your ability to communicate effectively with children and their parents, building trust and alleviating anxiety. Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist dentists with all pediatric dental treatments and procedures.
  • Provide chairside support, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  • Prepare and maintain the dental surgery, ensuring it is clean, sterile, and equipped for treatments.
  • Sterilize dental instruments and equipment according to strict protocols.
  • Take dental impressions and pour models.
  • Expose and process dental radiographs.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records and treatment notes.
  • Educate patients and parents on oral hygiene, preventative care, and post-treatment instructions.
  • Communicate effectively and empathetically with children of all ages and their guardians.
  • Supervise and mentor junior dental nurses, providing guidance and support.
  • Adhere to all relevant health and safety regulations and GDC guidelines.
  • Manage stock levels and order dental supplies as needed.
  • Contribute to a positive and welcoming clinic atmosphere.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified Dental Nurse, holding a recognized qualification (e.g., NEBDN Certificate) and GDC registration. Previous experience working specifically with children in a dental setting is essential. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and de-escalation skills are crucial for managing young patients. A caring, patient, and understanding nature is a must. Proficiency in general dental procedures and infection control protocols is required.
