Overview
Jigsaw Business Group is seeking an experienced and results-driven Head of Jigsaw Sustainable Solutions (JSS) to lead our growing solar and sustainable energy division. This pivotal role combines strategic leadership with hands-on technical oversight to ensure the successful delivery of solar PV projects across the UK. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in solar PV and battery storage systems (Minimum 5 years experience), a proven background in project and team management, and a passion for sustainable innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the full lifecycle of residential and commercial solar PV and BESS, service, maintenance and installation projects.
- Oversee and develop a team of engineers, technicians and project staff, ensuring productivity, performance, and compliance.
- Coordinate internal resources and external vendors to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to scope.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards, including MCS and ISO 9001/14001/45001.
- Manage Health & Safety documentation (RAMS), ensuring all site operations meet required safety protocols, especially for working at height.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring service excellence and long-term satisfaction.
- Take ownership of project budgeting, reporting, and financial performance tracking.
- Drive business development, account management, and identification of new growth opportunities.
- Work cross-functionally to support continuous improvement and operational efficiency within JSS.
- Communicate effectively across all stakeholders, managing risks and resolving challenges proactively.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Level 3 qualification (minimum) in Electrical, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
- Strong technical understanding of solar PV and battery storage systems (service, maintenance, installation and commissioning)
- At least 5 years’ experience in a management or team leadership role within the electrical or renewable energy sector.
- Working knowledge of MCS accreditation and ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 systems.
- Proficiency in preparing risk assessments (RAMS) and overseeing H&S compliance.
- Commercially astute with experience in budget control, client engagement, and contract management.
- Highly organised with strong time management and planning skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Competency in Microsoft Office and project tracking tools.
Desirable
- Experience with battery storage and/or EV charging infrastructure.
- Prior involvement in remote team management and multi-site project delivery.
- Familiarity with sustainable energy trends and government initiatives.
- Background in developing and executing strategic growth plans.
