Job Description

Pensions Actuary (Consultant / Risk Transfer focus)
Location: London (hybrid, minimum 2 days in the office)

This is a brilliant opportunity to join a leading actuarial and analytics consultancy that's known for combining deep technical expertise with a friendly, collaborative culture . The firm provides award-winning advice across pensions, financial services, energy, health and analytics, blending powerful data with human insight to help clients make better decisions.

The pensions business continues to grow rapidly, particularly in the defined benefit (DB) market, and we're looking for a qualified (or nearly qualified) actuary to join the London team. The role offers the chance to split your time between pensions actuarial consulting and pension risk transfer (PRT) projects, with flexibility depending on your strengths and interests.

You'll be joining a department of over 150 people, from analysts through to Partners, advising a wide range of trustee and corporate clients. Everyone works with a mix of clients and colleagues, so no two days are the same, and there's plenty of opportunity to get involved in varied, interesting work.

What you'll be doing:

  • Working with schemes of all sizes, from small to multi-billion-pound funds, helping clients make key decisions around funding, strategy and risk
  • Taking ownership of workstreams, coordinating and reviewing actuarial calculations and associated advice, with senior support where needed
  • Getting involved in PRT transactions, broking insurance deals, liaising with insurers, attending client and market meetings, and managing projects from start to finish
  • Having the chance to explore specialist areas such as longevity, GMP equalisation, and Collective Defined Contribution schemes
  • Attending client meetings and developing your consulting skills, with regular exposure to senior stakeholders
  • Taking part in industry networking and events, with the firm playing an active role in the pensions market and creating great opportunities to build your profile
What they're looking for:
  • A qualified or nearly qualified pensions actuary with UK consultancy experience
  • Strong technical pensions knowledge, comfortable reviewing actuarial valuations, accounting work, and member options projects
  • Awareness of key topics and trends shaping the UK pensions landscape
  • Clear communication skills, able to explain technical work in a way that makes sense to clients
  • Confidence in delegating and mentoring more junior team members
  • Good commercial awareness and time management
  • An interest in pensions risk transfer, with full training provided if you haven't done this work before
What you'll get in return:
You'll be part of a business that values its people, encourages growth, and genuinely supports a healthy work-life balance. Hybrid working is well established (typically 40% in-office), and you'll be surrounded by approachable, supportive colleagues who want you to thrive. Expect plenty of variety, a collaborative culture, and the opportunity to build both your consulting and PRT expertise within one of the UK's most respected actuarial teams.

Job Description

Data Services Actuary (Consultant)
Location: Edinburgh (hybrid, minimum 2 days in the office)

This is a great opportunity to join a leading consultancy with a genuinely collaborative and forward-thinking culture. The business is known for combining deep technical expertise with innovative tech solutions, helping pension schemes tackle complex challenges and make confident decisions about their future.

The Data Services team is expanding fast, driven by growing demand from schemes preparing for buy-ins, buy-outs, and other de-risking activity. You'll be joining a team that sits right at the centre of those strategic projects, helping clients understand, cleanse and make the most of their pension scheme data.

You'll work on a variety of interesting projects, including:

  • Preparing scheme data for endgame strategies such as buy-ins, buy-outs, and member option exercises
  • Large-scale benefit rectification work such as GMP equalisation, GMP rectification, and Barber window extensions
  • Data cleanse and benefit reconstruction projects, helping schemes resolve historical data issues and legacy system challenges
  • Reviewing data to support member communication exercises and benefit changes
  • Advising clients on data risk and helping shape scheme-level data strategies
It's fast-paced, high-profile work where you'll get to collaborate closely with colleagues across actuarial, administration, and pension risk transfer teams, while using some of the most advanced tools and analytics in the market.

What they're looking for:
  • A solid understanding of Defined Benefit pensions and pensions data
  • Either a qualified or part-qualified actuary (or someone with actuarial experience who has chosen not to continue exams)
  • Experience in a pensions consultancy environment, ideally involving data or de-risking projects
  • Strong Excel skills and an interest in technology and process improvement
  • Excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple workstreams at once
  • A team player who enjoys solving problems, working collaboratively, and building relationships
You'll be joining a firm that genuinely values work-life balance and professional growth. There's plenty of support for learning, hybrid working is well-established (typically 40% in the office), and you'll be surrounded by bright, friendly colleagues who care about doing great work without the corporate edge.

If you're an actuary who enjoys variety, problem-solving and data-driven projects, this could be a brilliant next step.
