We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Building Performance Consultant to join our innovative team, operating on a hybrid basis in Bristol, South West England . This role is crucial for advising on and optimizing the energy efficiency, thermal comfort, and environmental impact of building projects throughout their lifecycle. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in building physics, sustainable design principles, and advanced simulation software. You will lead the analysis of building performance, conduct energy modeling, lifecycle assessments, and provide expert recommendations to achieve superior environmental outcomes and occupant well-being. Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the assessment and optimization of building performance related to energy efficiency, thermal comfort, daylighting, and acoustics.
  • Conduct advanced energy modeling and simulation using industry-standard software (e.g., IES VE, EnergyPlus, CFD).
  • Perform lifecycle assessment (LCA) and embodied carbon analysis for building materials and systems.
  • Develop strategies and recommendations to meet specific building performance targets, including net-zero goals and certifications (e.g., BREEAM, LEED).
  • Collaborate closely with architectural and engineering teams to integrate performance considerations into the design process from concept through to completion.
  • Analyze post-occupancy data to validate design performance and identify areas for operational improvement.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies, research, and best practices in sustainable building design and performance.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports, presentations, and performance specifications.
  • Mentor and guide junior consultants and engineers.

  • Contribute to the development of internal tools and methodologies for building performance analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant building codes, standards, and environmental regulations.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Physics, Architectural Engineering, Sustainable Design, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 6 years of professional experience focused on building performance analysis, energy modeling, and sustainable design.
  • Expertise in building energy simulation software (e.g., IES VE, EnergyPlus) and related analysis tools.
  • Strong understanding of building physics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics.
  • Knowledge of embodied carbon assessment methodologies and tools.
  • Familiarity with green building rating systems (e.g., BREEAM, LEED).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly.
