You’ll play a key role in planning, reviewing, and coordinating support with families, schools, and professionals, ensuring a collaborative and inclusive approach. This is a varied and rewarding role where you’ll contribute to statutory assessments, environmental access planning, and service development, all while championing the independence and wellbeing of children and young people with visual impairments and complex needs.

About You

You will need to bring a strong background in habilitation work, with experience supporting children and young people with diagnosed visual impairments, including those with additional needs.

You’ll be confident in delivering structured, goal-oriented training programmes and skilled in conducting specialist assessments and risk evaluations. A collaborative communicator, you’ll work effectively with families, education staff, and multi-agency teams to deliver coordinated, impactful support.

In addition to a recognised habilitation qualification, you should have a sound understanding of current SEND legislation and safeguarding practices, be proficient in using ICT tools such as Microsoft Word and Excel and be committed to continuous professional development. The ability to travel across the county is essential, as is a clear dedication to promoting the welfare and independence of children and young people.

A full driving licence and enhanced DBS check are required, along with the flexibility to travel across the county.

  • Have a social work qualification and be SWE registered
  • Have completed your ASYE program or have relevant statutory experience
