ISS, a leading provider of facilities services in the UK, is looking for a Multi-skilled Engineer to join our team on a 6-month fixed-term contract.
In this role, you will carry out maintenance and repairs across the electrical, mechanical, and plumbing plant, with a particular focus on your core trade discipline.
Job Description
As a Multi-skilled Engineer, you’ll work closely with the manager, medical teams, nursing staff, and other client personnel, ensuring that all works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned, reactive, and corrective maintenance across mechanical systems (plant, air handling, alarms, catering, water, etc.) li>Diagnose faults, source materials/spares, and ensure accurate records of work completed
- Operate, monitor, and fault-find using the Building Management System (BMS)
- Participate in the on-call rota and provide a timely response to urgent tasks
- Act as Competent Person for Medical Gases and Legionella (training provided)
- Ensure compliance with hygiene, health & safety, COSHH, and company procedures
- Liaise effectively with managers, Trust staff, subcontractors, and patients to support safe operations
Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems, maintenance, and fault diagnosis
- Proficient in using and interpreting Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with staff, contractors, and patients
- Commitment to health & safety, hygiene standards, and compliance procedures
- Flexible and reliable, with a willingness to participate in on-call rota and training
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to minimising downtime and costs

We are seeking to recruit a Skills Coach for Plumbing, Heating and Building Services Engineering who will act as the main point of contact for apprentices, providing information, advice and guidance, monitoring progress against apprenticeship standards and maintaining strong relationships with employers to ensure apprentices develop the knowledge, skills and professional behaviours (KSBs) they need to carry out their job role successfully.
The Skills Coach will provide teaching and assessment to apprentices and learners working towards individual qualifications and apprenticeship standards across various environments, including college and the workplace. They will manage a caseload efficiently to ensure timely completion of all qualifications, through scheduled block and day-release sessions at college and carry assessment visits at the apprentice’s place of work
The Skills Coach is responsible for completing tripartite progress reviews with apprentices and employers and all scheduled tasks and milestones as detailed on the apprenticeship training plan.
Applicants should have knowledge of apprenticeships and local/national skills need, knowledge of end point assessment and awarding, experience in coaching or assessing apprentices, a Level 3 Plumbing qualification, ACS Gas qualification (or be willing to work towards one) and a teaching qualification (or willingness to obtain).
