The University of Bath is seeking to recruit two Research Policy Managers to join our Research Governance and Compliance team. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and implement institutional research policies that uphold legal, ethical, and regulatory standards.
About the roleAs Research Policy Manager, you will:
- Develop and implement research policies and procedures at institutional level.
- Provide clear guidance to researchers on external legislation affecting research (eg Human Tissue Act).
- Conduct in-depth analysis to inform evidence-based policy development.
- Collaborate with senior leaders and stakeholders across the University to embed best practices.
- Lead communications strategies around research governance and integrity.
- Support training and engagement activities to ensure policy understanding and compliance.
You’ll be joining a dynamic and supportive team dedicated to enabling excellent and ethical research. The Research Governance and Compliance team provides expert guidance and oversight across a wide range of areas including:
- Ethical review processes
- Research integrity and misconduct investigations
- Trusted Research and export controls
- Training and support for researchers

About youThe ideal candidate will bring:
- Proven experience in policy development, ideally within research management or a similarly complex regulatory environment.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to interpret complex information and present it clearly.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the confidence to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- A collaborative mindset and a genuine enthusiasm for being part of a supportive, high-performing team.
- A proactive, self-starting approach—comfortable working independently, managing multiple priorities, and driving forward initiatives.
- A commitment to ethical standards, equality, and inclusive working practices.
- Familiarity with research compliance and governance frameworks
A postgraduate qualification and experience in collaborative or cross-institutional initiatives are desirable.
Further informationThis is a full-time role, working 36.5 hours per week, for a fixed-term period of 2 years.
We support hybrid working, with an expectation of 2–3 days per week on campus. Flexibility is required during peak periods, and occasional attendance may be requested for meetings or events.

The Royal College of General Practitioners is the largest membership organisation solely for GPs in the United Kingdom. It provides some 1 million consultations for patients in the UK every working day and deals with 86% of the health problems experienced by the UK population.
RCGPNI is looking for a dynamic and committed Policy and Public Affairs Manager with experience of the fast-paced world of campaigns, policy and public relations and communications. The post holder will work with senior civil servants, politicians, the NI Assembly, Government, and key stakeholders to advance the College's key policy priorities and influence public policy in Northern Ireland. They will be responsible for RCGP policy development, campaign objectives, providing public affairs advice and support to RCGPNI Officers and the Head of NI.
Extensive experience in drafting press releases, coordinating responses to media requests, writing copy, and coordinating social media activity is essential, as well as producing written material (including briefing papers, reports, and summary documents) to inform and develop areas of policy for RCGP Northern Ireland.
As a confident individual with line management experience, educated to degree level or equivalent, with a good political understanding and an extensive knowledge of the key issues facing the healthcare system in Northern Ireland, the successful candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to quickly assimilate and analyse complex issues and be able to build strong internal and external relationships. The postholder will need to deal with a varied and demanding workload, meet tight deadlines, be flexible, self-motivated and have the ability to take the initiative.
A clean driving licence and access to transport as and when the role requires is essential.
