Are you a passionate Government & Politics Teacher looking for a new role?
A large, welcoming secondary school in Redbridge is seeking a Government & Politics Teacher to deliver A-level (KS5) lessons following the Pearson Edexcel curriculum. You may also be asked to support with Citizenship teaching at KS3/KS4.
This A-level course gives students the chance to explore the forces shaping the modern world while developing essential academic and life skills:
- In Year 12 , students study democracy in the UK, political parties, voting behaviour, and electoral systems. They also explore the British Constitution, government structures, and the role of law and the judiciary.
- In Year 13 , students compare the UK and US political systems, examining the role of political leaders and analysing contemporary issues including the power of political parties, political debates, and the dynamics of elections.
The school is seeking an enthusiastic teacher with experience of teaching A-level Government & Politics who can deliver engaging lessons, spark debate, and inspire students to challenge ideas with confidence.
Person Specification
- Experienced teacher/lecturer with proven ability to deliver the Edexcel Government & Politics A-level curriculum.
- A strong academic background in Politics, Social Sciences, or a related discipline.
- Ability to inspire, challenge, and support students of all abilities.
- Commitment to developing students’ critical thinking, essay-writing, and analytical skills.

+ To submit samples to your Team Leader at designated times
+ To ensure milestones for marking are adhered to
+ To ensure all administration is completed as specified
**Experience/qualifications needed**
+ You will have one academic year's worth of teaching experience:
+ a. within the last 8 years
+ b. within the relevant qualification subject
+ You will have a degree in Politics or be a qualified teacher
**Lecturer Experience / qualifications needed**
+ You will have a degree or equivalent
+ You will have at least one years teaching experience at undergraduate level in the last 3 years.
**Competencies required**
+ You will have the ability to work well under pressure
+ You will have the ability to meet deadlines
+ You will have a high level of subject knowledge in order to apply the mark scheme
**Additional information**
+ The marking period is between May - July.
+ The training required to mark as an examiner will take place between May and June.
