This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in projects that directly support the UK’s energy transition.
Some of the main responsibilities of the Electrical Power Engineer will include:
- Review design packages to ensure compliance with project requirements, UK grid codes, and planning approvals.
- Coordinate designs through internal governance processes, including technical reviews, risk assessments, and quality checks.
- Serve as the technical point of contact in meetings with design teams, DNOs, and equipment suppliers.
- Track and manage design changes and open technical points, ensuring they are resolved and properly documented.
- Monitor progress of designs through to delivery, ensuring alignment with approved standards and frameworks.
- Oversee the preparation and quality of documentation, including design deliverables.
- Identify and escalate technical risks related to grid connections, equipment specification, or design compliance, supporting project managers with mitigation strategies.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute to large-scale solar projects that are central to the UK’s energy transition. You will be part of a growing area of work within Vulcain, applying your technical expertise to ensure the successful design and delivery of projects that will help shape a low-carbon future.
Preferred Profile:
Alongside a commitment to our values of Care & Compassion, Performance, Team Spirit, and Inclusiveness, we are looking for individuals who can bring the following:
- Degree in Electrical Power Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Background in solar PV, high-voltage systems, or grid-connected renewable energy projects.
- Knowledge of UK grid codes and connection requirements (e.g. ENA G99).
- Experience reviewing or supporting electrical design packages for power projects.
- Familiarity with technical assurance, compliance frameworks, and governance processes.
- Ability to assess and mitigate technical risks during design and delivery stages.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams.
- Motivated to contribute to the UK’s renewable energy transition and growth in low-carbon power.
Please note that visa sponsorship is not guaranteed and is assessed on a case-by-case basis, depending on role criticality and project needs. Many of our UK projects require high-level security clearance, meaning we can often only consider candidates with an existing, indefinite right to work in the UK. Exceptionally, we may consider visa sponsorship for applicants with niche experience aligned to our core work (e.g. EPR/nuclear new build).
Remuneration & Benefits:
We offer a competitive salary tailored to your experience and background. Whether you're earlier in your career or bring more senior-level expertise, we encourage you to apply if this role aligns with your skills, or if you're open to discussing other opportunities within this discipline.
