About The RoleWe are looking for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to lead the electrical design and simulation of Si and SiC power modules. This role focuses on optimizing electrical performance, reliability, and manufacturability, using advanced design and simulation tools.
Main Duties And Responsibilities- Design and develop electrical layouts and schematics for Si and SiC power modules
- Perform electrical simulations to analyse circuit behaviour and optimize switching performance.
- Conduct electromagnetic field simulations to minimize parasitic effects and ensure compliance to target module specifications.
- Evaluate thermal performance in conjunction with electrical design
- Select components, including power semiconductors, passive components, and interconnects, to meet performance requirements.
- Optimize designs for electrical efficiency, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Support prototype builds and testing, analysing data to refine designs and improve performance.
- Prepare detailed technical documentation, including schematics, simulation reports, and test plans.
- Take on other engineering duties as required and assigned.
- Travel internationally on occasion as requested.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in power module design, particularly with Si and SiC technologies.
- Proficiency in Altium Designer for electrical schematics and layouts.
- Experience with electrical simulation tools such as SPICE and PLECS.
- Experience of electromagnetic simulation tools, such as ANSYS Q3D, ANSYS Maxwell, and thermal analysis tools like ANSYS Icepak.
- Solid understanding of power semiconductor devices and loss mechanisms.

NEW Job Opportunity - Power Systems Studies Engineer - Initial 12 Month Outside IR35 Contract
Our Client has a requirement for a Power Systems Studies Engineer, who will be required to work on a Contract basis in Leatherhead, Surrey.
Duration: 12 months
Rate: Negotiable dependant on experience (Outside IR35)
Location: Leatherhead (Hybrid working)
We are seeking an experienced Power Systems Studies Engineer to join our team and provide technical expertise across a range of onshore and offshore energy projects. This role offers the opportunity to work on projects involving local power generation, renewable energy systems (including BESS), and grid connections up to 220kV.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform advanced power system studies including:
- Equipment sizing
- Load flow and short circuit analysis
- Dynamic motor starting studies
- Harmonic analysis
- Arc flash assessments
- Transient stability studies
- Protection coordination
- Deliver high-quality power system modelling and analysis using ETAP.
- Review, guide, and oversee studies completed by third-party vendors, including EMT simulations.
- Provide technical input to ensure compliance with project requirements, standards, and best practices.
- Support project teams across the full lifecycle, from concept design through to execution.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in power system analysis within onshore and/or offshore energy projects.
- Strong background in renewable energy integration and grid connection studies.
- Proficiency with ETAP (essential).
- Familiarity with BESS and grid-scale renewable projects highly desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and vendor management skills.
