Our client, a prestigious football club, is seeking a highly accomplished and visionary Head Coach to lead their professional football academy based in Liverpool, Merseyside, UK . This demanding role requires an individual with a profound understanding of youth development, tactical excellence, and player management. You will be responsible for overseeing the entire academy structure, nurturing raw talent into first-team ready professionals, and instilling a winning mentality and a strong club ethos. This is an on-site position, requiring full commitment to the club's facilities and training schedules.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive coaching philosophy and long-term development plan for the academy.
  • Oversee all age groups within the academy, ensuring a consistent and progressive player development pathway.
  • Recruit, train, and manage a team of qualified academy coaches.
  • Identify and recruit promising young players from local and national talent pools.
  • Design and deliver high-quality training sessions focused on technical, tactical, physical, and psychological development.
  • Manage the U18/U23 team, ensuring success in league and cup competitions.
  • Build strong relationships with players, parents, and staff, fostering a positive and supportive environment.
  • Liaise with the first-team manager and staff to facilitate player progression.
  • Monitor player performance, providing constructive feedback and individual development plans.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant FA regulations and safeguarding policies.
  • Represent the club positively within the football community.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • UEFA A Licence or equivalent coaching qualification.
  • Extensive experience in youth football coaching and development, preferably at an elite level.
  • Demonstrated success in player development and progression to senior football.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and motivational skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of modern coaching methodologies and tactical trends.
  • Experience in player recruitment and scouting.
  • Excellent understanding of child protection and safeguarding principles.
  • A proven ability to build and manage a high-performing coaching team.
  • Passion for football and a commitment to developing young talent.
  • Resilience and the ability to thrive under pressure in a high-performance environment.

What is the role

We are looking for a Lead Coach to come and support our Premier League Inspires and Kicks programme, one based in West Sussex. You will plan and deliver high quality experiences to all participants, primarily through football sessions, but also supporting workshops and social action project. You will also plan and deliver mentoring programmes and behavioural development strategies with targeted students and cohorts of students.

Your coaching background

We are seeking candidates with prior experience in the sports or education sector, along with a solid understanding of working within SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) sport. Strong interpersonal skills and being a consistent team performer are essential.

To be successful in this role you must hold the following qualifications:

- UEFA C Licence

- FA Safeguarding Children

- FA Introduction to First Aid
