Your role as Press Operator will involve operating large tonnage Hydraulic Presses and secondary operation presses, to ensure products (predominantly for aerospace, automotive and defence industries) are manufactured to the highest quality and to required deadlines. Suitable candidate for the role of Press Operator should possess a background in manufacturing (preferably aerospace or automotive), have high attention to detail and be prepared to work in a heavily industrial environment.

Duties and Responsibilities of Press Operator :

• Operate a variety of hydraulic presses
• Inspection of the product from appropriate drawings
• Observe machine operation to verify accuracy of machine settings and to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, using precision measuring instruments
• Work according to Production Plan
• Maintain accurate data/records/documentation associated with your work
• Carry out tasks within allotted time limits
• Ensure compliance with quality standards, policies and procedures, codes and legislation including health and safety
• Immediately report problems/failures that may impact on the organisation and/or its clients/customers to Line Manager
• Contribute towards the smooth running of the team
• Responsibly use resources and control expenses to meet agreed budgetary controls
• Adhere to all organisation policies and procedures

Skills and experience required by Press Operator :

• Extensive experience of operating large tonne Presses
• Capable of working on own initiative
• Fully conversant with Production and Quality Standards

Press Operator

The successful candidate will be required to work Monday – Thursday 8.00 am – 4.30 pm, Friday 8.00 am – 3.30pm.

The press operator will support the efficient running of manufacturing processes, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity. They are responsible for operating press machinery, maintaining high standards, and adhering to health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Press Operator key duties include:

• Working to high quality standards, within set tolerances, and quality inspection of products.
• Follow company and legislative health & safety practices.
• Proactively report hazards, near misses, and any potential safety concerns.
• Set up and operate machinery to various specifications.
• Liaise with Operations Director or Production Manager for the reporting and repairing of machinery.
• Minimize wastage and production costs.
• Help achieve production targets and operational performance.

• Maintain high housekeeping standards.
• Provide coverage during colleagues' annual leave and sickness absences as required.
• Adhere to all relevant company policies and procedures.
• Undertake any other reasonable duties as assigned by the line manager.

We are actively looking for an experienced Punch Press Operator or Press Brake Operator to join a leading Engineering business based in Telford (Shropshire), this is working a rotating 6-2/2-10 shift Monday to Friday (37.5 hours per week), and the job comes with an hourly pay rate of £15.39 per hour (which includes a shift allowance on top of the basic pay rate), this role also comes with regular overtime opportunities that are paid at T1/2 in the week, as well as a monthly bonus, and an 8% employer pension contribution.

Our client is seeking a Printer / Label Press Operator to run combination flexo presses to include coating / laminating and die cutting. Reporting to the Plant Manager the successful candidate will need to have a continuous improvement mindset and a focus on health & safety.

Main Responsibilities:

• Safety Awareness and correct use of PPE.
• Running the combination presses, mixing equipment and QA testing apparatus.
• Material identification and interpreting processing documentation.
• Loading and unloading materials safely to and from the machine.
• Machine setting using the details contained within the work instructions for each job.
• Give 100% inspection for defects while running.
• Basic mix handling, required to prepare mixes for the coater.
• Accurate data input into their ERP systems.
• Maintain stock levels all consumables.
• Producing High Quality Products to the highest possible standard as per Job Specifications, while working within a Team where continuous improvements in Quality and Efficiency are the norm, satisfying the Customer while working in a safe manner are the main goals.
• Continual learning all aspects of the process including, reading job cards, and loading the materials onto the machine, updating the computer system and inspection the quality of the product while running.
• To test sample product off the machine for Quality Assurance, performing various tests on various products in accordance with the product specifications, and reporting back to the coating operators all relevant test results, also recording and filing all test results as per specification.

Qualifications / Experience:

• Any experience with flexo printing, coating, laminating or die cutting in a high volume manufacturing environment will be considered.
• A record of achieving targets set including quality, waste and efficiency.
• Good attention to detail and naturally follows processes and procedures exactly.
• Able to demonstrate making continuous improvement in similar roles, preferably within a Company considered to be best in class.
• Knowledge of implementing problem solving techniques / quality tools.
• Team player who has a flexible approach within the team.
• Demonstrates good standards of housekeeping and work area disciplines.
• Computer literate and able to transact data accurately.
