**About the opportunity**
Amentum is currently recruiting for a Principal Process Engineer to join our Energy Business. Engineering &Technical Solutions (ETS) is entering an exciting phase of opportunity by supporting our key client's UK nuclear fleet through a business transformation, and by supporting new small modular reactor (SMR) developers. Our work is varied; covering New Build, Generation, Life Extension, and Defueling, and our capabilities are in demand across the nuclear sector. Amentum offer flexible working as well as hybrid working between a chosen base office and home. The candidate's base office location will be Knutsford, Warrington, Stockton-on-Tees, Gloucester or Bristol with the possibility of being able to travel to other sites and Amentum offices, as required. You will report into the Process Engineering Lead and work closely with other engineers across the business.
The successful candidate must be highly motivated and proactive and looking to develop their technical capabilities and share their experience to develop other junior engineers. The Process Engineering post is for those with experience of working within the civil, nuclear or other highly regulated industries. Candidates will be familiar with the requirements of working in a regulated environment with providing ER support and as an Amentum employee, you will deliver work to high HSSE standards in compliance to HSSE regulations.
Key responsibilities:
You will support various and diverse nuclear clients, providing process design and assurance primarily in areas including:
+ Nuclear new build
+ Technical assurance of design reports prior to submission to clients or regulators
+ Design justification or assessment of new and existing process plants as part of safety reports.
+ Key discipline contributor in Feasibility and Optioneering Studies
+ Technical Lead or Discipline lead
+ HAZOP Leadership and Hazard Identification Studies.
+ Process Design Development
+ Leading small teams of multidisciplinary engineers, both internally and combined with partner companies, joint-ventures and client teams
+ Production and Checking of process deliverables including:
+ Process flow sheets
+ PFDs / P&IDs
+ Datasheets and underpinning calculations
+ Basis of Design
+ Process Descriptions etc.
**Here's What You'll Need:**
+ Degree qualified engineer in chemical engineering (or accomplished engineer through apprentice route with relevant expertise)
+ Chartered (or working towards Chartership)
+ Experience of front-end engineering design through to full life cycle project requirements
+ To display a broad Process understanding in order to be able to undertake different projects across varied clients/locations
+ Knowledge of Civil nuclear plant systems, Conventional power plant technology, structures and component and associated design and assessment guidelines is a distinct advantage
