Firmin Recruit is excited to be working with our long-established manufacturing client based in the London, SE5 area. Due to business growth, our client is now recruiting for an experienced Print Engineer/Technician to join their friendly, hard-working team.
The role will involve digitally printing onto my client’s engineering products, so this role would suit someone from a print background, and the successful candidate will need to have experience running a Roland High Speed Flatbed UV Printer or similar digital equipment.
The Role
- Create templates to enable selective printing
- Loading templates and running Roland printing equipment
- Maintain and clean all equipment regularly
- Responsible for the inventory and organisation of all supplies
- Assist other team members and managers to increase efficiency in job processes and production
- Provide front counter assistance to internal customers as needed
Suitable Candidate :
- This role requires someone with digital printing experience
- Experience using Roland High Speed Flatbed UV printing equipment or similar machinery is necessary.
- Previous experience working within the print industry is essential
- Attention to detail of work
- Experience using Adobe Illustrator or other graphics programs
- Computer skills must include Microsoft 365, Adobe
- The successful candidate will need to be able to work a flexible schedule
- Willingness to follow processes, safety standards, and policies
Hours: 8 am – 4.30 pm Monday – Friday
Benefits: Pension, 23 Days Holiday +Bank Holidays, 2 x 15-minute paid breaks

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing production schedules, ensuring smooth workflow and providing day-to-day leadership to a small team of two.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily print operations including scheduling, production, finishing and dispatch of all printed consumables and badge products.
- Manage a small team of machine operators and technical staff, ensuring efficient task allocation, training and adherence to quality and safety standards.
- Operate and oversee digital printing and finishing machinery including: Epson SurePress digital printer, finishing machines (laminators, guillotines, cutters, slitters) Fan-folding and packing equipment.
- Coordinate production schedules to ensure timely completion of all client orders, prioritising urgent and event-critical deadlines.
- Monitor machine performance and maintenance, scheduling servicing and troubleshooting technical issues to minimise downtime.
- Implement quality-control procedures throughout the production process, ensuring consistent colour, finish, and accuracy on all output.
- Liaise with internal departments (Sales, Operations, Logistics and Events) to confirm specifications, artwork, quantities and delivery requirements.
- Maintain stock control of print media, inks, ribbons, and finishing materials; plan ahead for large event runs or seasonal spikes.
- Ensure health & safety compliance across all machinery and production areas.
- Drive process improvements, introducing automation, workflow optimisation and cost-efficient production methods.
- Report production KPIs and ensure targets for output, waste reduction and delivery accuracy are consistently achieved.

Possessing a minimum three years experience in a print account management role, you will be confident dealing with the public and comfortable managing front-of-house activity. You will have a built a strong understanding of the digital and large format printing processes, whilst experience of working with branded merchandise would be a plus, it is not essential.
You must be an excellent communicator, effective at engaging with Clients over the phone and building strong rapport, whilst equally, being highly organised and possessing an excellent attention to detail. Always a team player, you will be comfortable managing multiple jobs at speed, under tight deadlines, being adaptable and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Overall Objections:
Reporting to the Account Director, you will be solely responsible for the management of Graphic projects and several events from quotation through to procurement and you will actively manage the production and often the installation phases. To be the main point of contact for your client base and dealing with anything that may occur along the project journey, ensuring the smooth day to day processing, management, and financial reporting of multiple projects.
Day to day/client facing responsibilities:
- Manage all projects from your clients from start to completion, including raising quotes and works orders, liaising with client on quotes and artwork, raising despatch sheets and invoicing.
- Attend client meetings where required and report back with all required information so the projects can be managed correctly
- Raise all job bags as necessary, ensuring correct information for all other departments to follow.
- Raise all installation sheets when the project is approved or as soon as possible within the project timeline, ensuring correct information and visuals for installation crew to follow onsite.
- Quotations: raise Clarity quotations as instructed in a timely and accurate manner and ensuring approval is received prior to quotes being forwarded to clients.
Skills/Knowledge:
- Come from a large format and / or Retail Graphics Industry.
- Experience in a Project Management role.
- Experience of managing retail accounts is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to include highly effective communication/listening skills.
- Excellent planning with the ability to work with conflicting priorities, ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Pro-active, 'can do' attitude.
- Excellent organisational ability.
- Ability to work within a fast-paced environment whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy & professionalism.
- PC literate, confident on MS software packages; word, excel, email, Clarity, internet and FileMaker (must be comfortable with spreadsheets/databases).
- Flexibility extremely essential.
