**Job Purpose/Background:**
The EMEA Indexed Fixed Income Portfolio Management team has responsibility for managing a complex book of business spanning 300 accounts, $500bn AUM, across ETFs, Index Mutual Funds and Segregated Accounts. The team is responsible for ensuring that the portfolios meet their investment objectives and are managed in a consistent and risk-controlled manner.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Working in the Indexed Fixed Income Credit team in EMEA. This is a book of 90+ portfolios and ~$150bn in AUM.
+ Responsible for managing Credit portfolios across ETF, Index Mutual Funds and Segregated accounts.
+ Ensure that all portfolios are managed to the highest fiduciary standards within their tracking error targets.
+ Daily investment of portfolios client cash flows/custom baskets in a risk-controlled manner across the book of business.
+ Implementing and sizing new issues in a pragmatic manner across the book of business.
+ Managing large index events, rebalances and corporate actions in a risk-controlled way

Walker Cole International is searching for a Director of Scientific Affairs and Portfolio Management to join a leading healthcare organisation based near London, England. This senior leadership position will oversee Regulatory Affairs, Medical Affairs, Clinical Affairs, Portfolio Strategy, and Business Development across a broad portfolio of products.


The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving scientific and commercial excellence — ensuring compliance, enabling innovation, and shaping portfolio growth across the organisation. This position offers significant influence within the UK leadership team and represents a key pillar in the company’s long-term strategy.


Key Responsibilities


  • Provide strategic leadership across Regulatory, Medical, and Clinical Affairs, ensuring full compliance with UK and international standards.
  • Define and deliver portfolio strategy and business development plans, including new product launches, lifecycle management, and opportunity assessment.
  • Lead and mentor a multi-disciplinary team spanning regulatory, medical, pharmacovigilance, and business development functions, fostering collaboration and high performance.
  • Identify and evaluate new market opportunities, licensing partnerships, and category expansion initiatives.
  • Partner with senior leadership to achieve strategic and financial objectives while strengthening the organisation’s scientific and commercial capabilities.


Candidate Profile


  • 15+ years of experience in pharmaceuticals with a strong background in scientific, regulatory, or medical leadership.
  • Proven expertise in portfolio management and business development, including strategic evaluation of new opportunities.
  • Demonstrated success in leading complex, multi-functional teams within matrix organisations.
  • Degree in a life science or pharmacy discipline; advanced qualifications in business, regulatory, or scientific management are advantageous.
