Are you an experienced user of a slitting, blanking and/or roll forming machine? Do you consider yourself to be proactive and an asset to a busy team? Are you based in or around Llanwern?
We have an initial Process Operator role available within TATA Steels Llanwern works. This specific department uses automated equipment to make steel components. This role is ideal for someone who can work on their own initiative and comes from a Machine Operating, Manufacturing or Industrial background.
Role: Process Operator
Location: TATA Steel, Llanwern Works, Newport NP19 4QZ
Rate: 13.70ph (26,715 per annum)
Contract length: 12 months initially, with the view to extend or offer a permanent position
Shift Patterns: Mon-Thu 06:00-14:00 and Fri 06:00-13:00 (37.5 hours per week)
Start: ASAP but pending the result of a medical assessment (this does include a Drug and Alcohol test)
Responsibilities:
- Operating processing machinery and material handling equipment
- Working upon own initiative and handling machinery independently
- Ensuring any machine operation is with the optimum Health and safety in mind at all times
- Recognising relevant product ranges to facilitate prompt and accurate material selection and processing
- Understanding basic maintenance activities and conducting them as required
- Understanding and deploying continuous improvement and problem solving techniques to optimise machine availability
- Recommending improvements to (production control procedures to enhance performance
- Handling all material including checking stock records, labelling and storing according to commercial requirements
Essential requirements:
- Driving Licence and use of own vehicle (site H&S rules)
- 2+ years in a Manufacturing, Production or Heavy Industrial environment
- Machine Operation experience (Blanking,Slitting, Roll forming)
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Strong IT literacy (Windows, Microsoft)
- Able to work on own initiative and independently

The Process Operator will be responsible for monitoring and carrying out routine operations ensuring maximum efficiency of plant and assisting the shift supervisor with daily reporting.
As the Process Operator you will be responsible for:
- Monitoring and operating a gas storage plant via SCADA
- Routine chemical testing, inventory management and completing plant reports
- Liaise with the engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to ensure maximum availability of plant by fault finding and updating the CMMS
- Following Health and Safety procedures to ensure the safety of yourself and colleagues
- Keeping the plant tidy and clean, applying good housekeeping standards
To be considered for this role you should have:
- At least 3 years experience operating a plant in a similar industry (Oil and gas, Power generation, Chemical production, or wastewater treatment)
- Strong Health and Safety understanding for yourself and others, NEBOSH or IOSH is ideal but not essential
- The willingness to work 12-hour shifts
- Extensive experience with SCADA and CMMS systems
- Ideally a relevant engineering qualification e.g NVQ/C&G/ONC is ideal but not essential

Adecco is pleased to be partnering with our client in Workington to recruit a permanent Process Operator. Our client is a leading global chemical manufacturing company, renowned for innovation and excellence in their field.
This is a full-time, permanent position working 39 hours per week, following an attractive shift pattern that includes both 12-hour day and night shifts.
Example Shift Pattern includes:
4 on, 5 off, 5 on, 4 off, 5 on, 12 off this will include some weekends.
Purpose of the role
To control, monitor and adjust equipment and processes to meet production targets. To report and investigate deviations from normal operating conditions, dealing with basic process upsets.
Technical:
- Prepare to start up, start up, monitor and maintain, handover and complete / shutdown a process
- Maintain product quality
- Prepare process materials according to instructions
- Manage materials into and between production stages
- Separate and dispose of by-products and waste as appropriate
- Clean and prepare items of plant and equipment
- Prepare work areas for maintenance
- Maintain the condition of engineering assets report equipment and materials defects to supervision.
- To carry out analytical testing to ensure product integrity as and when required
- Complete all documentation to the required standard
- Maintain area housekeeping and 5S status
Compliance:
- To understand the Major Accident Prevention Policy / Plan (MAPP) and Safety and Environment Management Systems.
- To comply with company Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures and arrangements.

Duties & responsibilities:
- Must be safety focussed, demonstrate good safety behaviours and be comfortable to raise safety concerns should they arise.
- Experience of working with chemicals and COSHH would be an advantage. Must be comfortable wearing PPE including a full face mask when required (no facial hair permitted).
- Required to operate various critical processes including i) impregnation and drying plant, ii) thermal processing equipment and iii) onsite effluent treatment facility.
- Required to perform in line testing on manufactured product and quality assurance checks.
