What you’ll do
As a Technical Product Owner, you will play a significant part in ensuring that we deliver successful features that enable scalable, secure and performant data services.

Working remotely, you will be responsible for owning and maintaining the data-related product backlog, plus developing user stories and prioritising requirements for the development team.

- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including data analysts, infrastructure specialists and the wider product team to gather data requirements.
- Translate complex technical requirements into actionable user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
- Lead sprint planning, backlog refinement, and iteration review sessions with engineering teams, ensuring that features and user stories are prioritised effectively.
- Act as a bridge between technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring shared understanding and alignment.
- Uphold and embed Optum’s data governance and security standards throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring alignment with enterprise compliance frameworks.
- Work closely with the development team to address technical issues and challenges.
- Continuously improve team processes and delivery velocity.
Who you’ll be
We need you to either have prior experience in data analysis, data science or data engineering with a desire to move into a product position or working in a Technical Product Owner role with experience of data analytic platforms. You will have a strong understanding of relevant data technologies such as SQL and Python, data query engines and cloud technologies. You will be inquisitive, understanding the needs of our customers and internal stakeholders to deliver the product roadmap to the market and the wider business.
Having worked in an agile environment previously, you will have a proven record of supporting strategic backlog planning and management of software-related products. Collaboration is essential; you will be able to demonstrate previous experience of engaging with technologists and breaking down complex development tasks into manageable deliverables to meet sprint targets.
Other professional and technical skills we are looking for you to demonstrate include;
- Previous experience and passion for data-related product delivery
- Proven track record of delivering complex technical products in fast-paced environments.
- Experience working with cross-functional agile teams using Scrum, SAFe or LeSS
- Hands-on experience or strong understanding of SQL, Python, data query engines (such as Starburst or Presto), and AWS services, combined with knowledge of cloud architecture, data pipelines, and analytics tools to support informed decision-making and trade-offs.
- Strong collaborator with internal and external stakeholders – exposure to working with customers to drive product development
- Excellent technical problem solving
- Experience working within healthcare or regulated sector would be desirable.

What you'll be doing:
- Creation and prioritization of the product backlog

The Role
As a Technical Product Owner , you will be working for the largest postal services provider in the UK. The role is end to end accountability for delivery across technological products and where needed, across business units. This role also requires managing business product owners and other stakeholders, to ensure overall delivery of new technical products and features.
Your responsibilities:
- To identify, plan and coordinate the set of changes to a product domain to maximize value delivered to the customer, including management of commercial activity and changing priorities and features. Provide a point of escalation for individual features within change initiatives.
- Manage the approach and the interdependence of delivery of initiatives in support of specific business strategies to ensure that business interests are protected, and requirements met.
- Be accountable for delivery of initiatives (technology, processes, people) as assigned, including articulation and realization of benefits, and slippages or changes against original benefit expectations.
- Full financial responsibility for spend, including establishing budgets, monitoring spends and re-forecasting on a regular basis to highlight issues.
- Responsible for forming and managing effective relationships with business stakeholders and matrix management of business resources in support of delivery.
Your Profile
Essential skills/knowledge/experience:
- Expertise across enterprise product delivery and engineering practices in a commercial environment.
- Good understanding of Tech Stack - .Net Core, SQL, Azure PaaS and SaaS services for Mobile App development.
- Experience with JIRA, confluence and automated testing and release management tools.
- Project and Program management methodology. E.g. SoS, Kanban, SAFe.
- Experience of going through the transformation from Waterfall to Agile delivery methodologies.
- Experience of empowering, enabling, supporting and motivating product teams.

We’re scaling fast, and now we need a Technical Product Owner to drive delivery across multiple projects — from greenfield platforms to feature enhancements that will define the future of compliance tech.
This is a unique opportunity to own product delivery processes, shape how we build, and work directly with our Head of Engineering, UX Designer, and 8 developers in a fast-moving, high-impact environment.
The Role
You’ll sit at the centre of our product development, turning complex business and regulatory needs into clear, actionable work for the dev team. As the Technical Product Owner , you’ll balance strategic priorities with day-to-day backlog decisions , making sure every sprint delivers value and momentum.
Key Responsibilities
Product Ownership
- Own and manage product backlogs across multiple concurrent projects.
- Define sprint goals, prioritise features, and maintain development flow.
- Make tactical product decisions to unblock progress and hit delivery milestones.

Business Analysis & Documentation
