If you have a background in data analysis, data engineering or data science and looking to move into a more product-orientated role, then this Technical Product Owner position would be great for you!

What you’ll do

As a Technical Product Owner, you will play a significant part in ensuring that we deliver successful features that enable scalable, secure and performant data services.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic team that is driving and delivering the success of data-driven health technology products. Working remotely, you will be responsible for owning and maintaining the data-related product backlog, plus developing user stories and prioritising requirements for the development team.

  • Uphold and embed Optum’s data governance and security standards throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring alignment with enterprise compliance frameworks.
  • Work closely with the development team to address technical issues and challenges.
  • Continuously improve team processes and delivery velocity.

Who you’ll be

We need you to either have prior experience in data analysis, data science or data engineering with a desire to move into a product position or working in a Technical Product Owner role with experience of data analytic platforms. You will have a strong understanding of relevant data technologies such as SQL and Python, data query engines and cloud technologies. You will be inquisitive, understanding the needs of our customers and internal stakeholders to deliver the product roadmap to the market and the wider business.

Having worked in an agile environment previously, you will have a proven record of supporting strategic backlog planning and management of software-related products. Collaboration is essential; you will be able to demonstrate previous experience of engaging with technologists and breaking down complex development tasks into manageable deliverables to meet sprint targets.

Other professional and technical skills we are looking for you to demonstrate include;

  • Previous experience and passion for data-related product delivery
  • Proven track record of delivering complex technical products in fast-paced environments.
  • Experience working with cross-functional agile teams using Scrum, SAFe or LeSS
  • Hands-on experience or strong understanding of SQL, Python, data query engines (such as Starburst or Presto), and AWS services, combined with knowledge of cloud architecture, data pipelines, and analytics tools to support informed decision-making and trade-offs.
  • Strong collaborator with internal and external stakeholders – exposure to working with customers to drive product development
  • Excellent technical problem solving
  • Experience working within healthcare or regulated sector would be desirable.

The Role

You’ll sit at the centre of our product development, turning complex business and regulatory needs into clear, actionable work for the dev team. As the Technical Product Owner , you’ll balance strategic priorities with day-to-day backlog decisions , making sure every sprint delivers value and momentum.

Key Responsibilities

Product Ownership

  • Own and manage product backlogs across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Define sprint goals, prioritise features, and maintain development flow.
  • Make tactical product decisions to unblock progress and hit delivery milestones.
  • Validate delivered features against user needs and compliance requirements.

Business Analysis & Documentation

  • Gather and translate requirements into user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical specs .
  • Map processes, integrations, and edge cases for clarity.
  • Maintain requirements traceability and change control.
  • Build structured frameworks for capturing and prioritising new ideas.

Stakeholder & Team Collaboration

  • Act as the primary bridge between stakeholders and engineering.

  • Keep stakeholders engaged and informed through clear, regular updates.

Process & Delivery

  • Strong requirements documentation (Jira, Confluence, or similar).
  • Excellent stakeholder management across multiple projects.
  • Analytical mindset — able to break down complexity into clarity.

Nice to Have:

  • SaaS or platform development experience.
  • API integration, data flow, or SQL familiarity.
  • Cloud knowledge (especially Azure ).

  • Development team needs fewer clarifications, delivering faster.
  • Backlog is clear, prioritised, and aligned with business goals.
  • Stakeholders are confident in progress and visibility.
  • Major milestones delivered on time, without loss of quality.
  • You’ve established scalable product processes that enable growth.

  • Athletes Grit – resilience, pace, and high standards.

  • Pension scheme
  • Two company-wide events per year – where the whole team comes together.

This is not a 9-to-5 role.

Job Description

Technical Product Owner – Auro Door

Location: London Liverpool Street

At Auro Door, we’re rethinking fire safety from the ground up.

We’ve built the UK’s first smart fire doorset system – combining IoT sensors, cloud technology, and real-time compliance monitoring to transform how buildings stay safe.

We’re scaling fast, and now we need a Technical Product Owner to drive delivery across multiple projects — from greenfield platforms to feature enhancements that will define the future of compliance tech.

This is a unique opportunity to own product delivery processes, shape how we build, and work directly with our Head of Engineering, UX Designer, and 8 developers in a fast-moving, high-impact environment.

  • Align business priorities with technical feasibility alongside the Head of Engineering.
  • Work with UX to ensure user-centred design is embedded into delivery.
  • Keep stakeholders engaged and informed through clear, regular updates.

Process & Delivery

  • Establish product delivery processes from the ground up.
  • Maintain product roadmaps and release timelines.
  • Implement templates and documentation that scale with growth.
  • Drive continuous improvement in how we plan, build, and release.

What You’ll Bring

  • 3+ years’ experience as a Product Owner, Technical BA, or hybrid role in a software environment.
  • Proven track record owning backlogs and working with Agile/Kanban teams .
  • Strong requirements documentation (Jira, Confluence, or similar).
  • Excellent stakeholder management across multiple projects.
  • Analytical mindset — able to break down complexity into clarity.
  • Clear communicator with a collaborative, decisive style.

Nice to Have:

  • SaaS or platform development experience.
  • API integration, data flow, or SQL familiarity.
  • Cloud knowledge (especially Azure ).
  • Experience in startups or scale-ups.
  • UX/UI principles and user-centred design thinking.

Success Looks Like

  • Development team needs fewer clarifications, delivering faster.
  • Backlog is clear, prioritised, and aligned with business goals.
  • Stakeholders are confident in progress and visibility.
  • Major milestones delivered on time, without loss of quality.
  • You’ve established scalable product processes that enable growth.

Our Values

At Auro, we’re building more than products — we’re building a safer future. Our culture is shaped by:

  • Athletes Grit – resilience, pace, and high standards.
  • Captains Duty – ownership, accountability, and leadership.
  • Fun-Loving Heart – energy, positivity, and building something we love.

What’s in it for you

  • Unlimited holiday – take the time you need to recharge.
  • Performance bonus – tied to roadmap milestones and delivery KPIs.
  • Private health care
  • Takeaway Friday & team socials
  • Cycle to Work scheme
  • Family-friendly policies – enhanced maternity and paternity leave.
  • Pension scheme
  • Two company-wide events per year – where the whole team comes together.

This is not a 9-to-5 role.

We’re looking for someone who thrives in a high-growth environment, can flex across priorities, and is excited by the chance to help build a product and company from the ground up.
