NexGen Consultancy LTD are currently supporting a growing precision engineering brand based in Derbyshire. Our client specialising in the supply within the food industry are looking for a Production Planner to join their team.
As a manufacturing planner you will be responsible for planning and scheduling their manufacturing activities including machining, laser cut and folding, fabrication, electrical/mechanical build.
The Manufacturing Planner is also responsible for identifying material requirements to maintain efficient work flow and stock levels, driven by manufacturing planner and weekly manufacturing schedule.
Coordinating and expediting the flow of work and materials within/between departments according to daily and weekly production schedules.
Interacting with section leaders, sales, and design engineering to determine progress of work and completion dates, inventory levels and solving production problems to ensure adherence to the overall manufacturing plans.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Plan and prepare production schedules for each manufacturing cell, monitoring, scheduling, and tracking KPIs.
- Create, monitor and drive the overall manufacturing plan to meet customer forecasted delivery schedule
- Liase with the Stores Team to identify material requirements and availability to ensure the manufacturing plan and schedules are achieved
- Analyse production specifications and manufacturing data and establish material, tools, and human resource requirements to achieve the overall manufacturing plan and weekly schedules
- Plan the sequence of machining, laser cutting/folding, fabrication and assembly to maximise efficiency and achieve delivery timelines
- Expedite operations that delay schedules and alter schedules to meet unforeseen conditions
- Prepare manufacturing reports, highlighting deviations from the daily/weekly schedules and impacts to the overall manufacturing plan
- In an accurate and timely manner produce manufacturing schedules and purchasing requisitions. Also, action in an accurate and timely manner project orders, forecasts, and availability requests
- Support the attitudes required within the team in meeting customer requirements/expectations, specifically in respect to handling enquiries, administrative and commercial requests
- Coordinate activities within adjoining teams to ensure efficiencies and effectiveness are the primary outcome
- Liase with the sales and stores teams on delivery and availability issues related to fulfilling customer orders
Qualifications & Experience:
- MRP/ERP systems experience (essential)
- Engineering manufacturing related qualification (essential)
- Advanced Excel user (essential)
- Working in a Planning/Scheduling role (preferred)

3. Requirements
Essential

Minimum 2 years’ demonstrable experience in production planning or scheduling within a high?volume manufacturing environment—ideally food, beverage or FMCG sectors.

Proficiency in Excel: strong skills in Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, and data analysis.

Experience using MRP/ERP systems for manufacturing planning (EFACS experience is a plus).

Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and organisational ability.

Excellent communication, capable of working collaboratively across teams.
Desirable

Exposure to thermoformed packaging, tooling forecasting, and lean/continuous improvement techniques.
