Summary:
A Project Control Engineer / Planner is required to support a Bus Depot Electrification Programme as part of a wider public transport network rollout. The role involves developing and delivering charging infrastructure for a growing electric bus fleet, including retrofitting existing depots and supporting the construction of new maintenance facilities.
Core Responsibilities:
Project Setup & Planning:
Set up projects in financial and planning systems, ensuring accurate team structures and scheduling in line with project procedures.Schedule Management:
Develop, maintain, and update project schedules, including critical path analysis, resource loading, and time-phased budget baselines.Performance Monitoring & Reporting:
Track project progress, manage cost and schedule performance, produce monthly reports, and provide variance analysis and revised cost forecasts.Cost Control:
Support cost evaluations, procurement processes, payment approvals, and ensure correct financial tracking within the project's Work Breakdown Structure.Risk & Change Management:
Assist in risk identification, contingency management, and ensure proper implementation of change control processes.Reporting & Process Improvement:
Contribute to the preparation of project reports and the continuous improvement of project control procedures and practices.Procurement Support:
Develop procurement schedules and support tender reviews.Team Support:
Assist in managing internal staff and consultants as required.
Skills and Experience Required:Extensive experience in Project Controls, with a strong background in managing project performance, cost, and schedules.
Proven expertise in cost control and change management, ensuring accurate financial tracking and effective implementation of project changes.
Significant experience managing multiple projects or portfolios, with the ability to coordinate and prioritise competing demands.
Proficient in project planning using various software tools, including advanced use of Primavera (P6).
Strong reporting skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise technical and non-technical reports for diverse stakeholders.
Solid knowledge of project management principles and techniques, with the ability to apply best practices across different project stages.
Demonstrated ability to influence, support, and coach colleagues in the adoption of new processes and procedures.
Extensive project and programme management experience, with a comprehensive understanding of fundamental methodologies and frameworks.
