Duties

As a Project Engineer at our flagship Bournville Plant (home of Cadbury's), you will be instrumental in planning, developing, and executing capital projects. **How you will contribute**
In this role, you will lead a portion of the Project Engineering agenda within the UK&I Cluster and oversee specific areas of the Cluster site strategy, aligning with site compliance, productivity, and development objectives. You will develop and implement multiple projects.
**Your responsibilities will include:**
+ Project scope could cover many areas but especially, chocolate moulding & forming processes, packaging, palletising and site infrastructure & services.
+ Concurrently manages portfolio of projects (upwards of $5MM/annum).
+ Fit-for-purpose technical solutions, development and implementation of state-of-the-art processes and equipment strategies to optimize resources, harmonize assets, and roll out best practices. Create detailed technical specifications & reports.
+ Collaborate with key stakeholders from multiple departments to define and execute capital and technical agendas during the complete project cycle. Share and learn from best practices around the Mondelez global network.
+ Development and delivery of accurate budgets in accordance with contractual obligations, including accurate forecasting of cash flow, finding the best value for cost for chosen schemes.
+ Effective time plans clearly defining tasks, estimating durations, identifying dependencies, allocating resources, and setting realistic deadlines, while accounting for potential risks.
+ Ensuring the implementation of engineering safety, quality, hygiene and environmental standards. Reverse engineering where information does not exist.
+ Supplier & contractor management throughout the project.
+ Existing practices, methods and technology are challenged and opportunities to improve factory productivity, safety and quality are proactively sought, driving several capital projects, to help deliver the factories forward plan.
+ A thorough and continue professional development in understanding of all aspects of confectionery making, wrapping, packing and services, particularly within the Chocolate category is developed, and external supplier developments are kept up to date with.
You will also support the broader site and cluster teams as a key technical expert, leading significant projects. This position is based in Bournville, but the candidate will be expected to work at any of the UK&I Confectionery plants as needed.

    • Attend meetings with suppliers and Technical Partners as required, ensuring they are delivering in accordance with their Development Interface Agreement (DIA).
    • Perform system review, vehicle integration, verification & validation activities including Safety Goal Validation and other tests throughout the development lifecycle.
    • Support junior team members.

Who you are

  • Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Electronic or Automotive Engineering related degree, or equivalent experience. 
  • Knowledge of the structure and key concepts of ISO 26262.
  • Articulate, self-motivated, and keen to learn.
  • Dynamic and pro-active attitude to problem solving.
  • Passionate about vehicle functional safety and aware of the current automotive trends.
  • Knowledge of Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HARA), FMEA and/or Fault Tree Analyses.
  • Awareness of ISO 21434 Cybersecurity

This pivotal role will operate in a hybrid capacity out of one of our offices near Leamington or Bicester where the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work alongside some of the most visionary minds in the automotive field.

The Opportunity:

As a Lead Engineer you will have full ownership for delivering a closure system across one of more platforms, leading the technical direction, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

What you’ll do:

  • Ownership of relevant function group.
  • Define the requirements for systems function and integration.
  • Define the boundaries for systems function & integration.
  • Manage interface with Styling.
  • Engineering responsibility (including design and release) of one of the vehicle closure systems: Bonnet System, Doors System, Tailgate System.
  • Design for manufacture and assembly for responsible components, ensuring responsible designs meet legal compliance.
  • Work Package Management.
  • Design Sizing Analysis: Sub system loads, Joints and interfaces, Materials selection, Bolt calculations.
  • Assembly level simulation, cost, timing and mass.
  • Mentor and support professional development of all colleagues, particularly junior staff.
  • To perform any other duties that may well be reasonably expected within the remit of the role.
  • To ensure compliance with the Health, Safety and Environmental Policy requirements within areas of responsibility.
  • Prepares and manages scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments.
  • Delivers complex commodities by taking ownership, leading and developing a team to produce high quality output.
  • Develop technology roadmaps for function group.

  • Previous experience within Automotive closures.
  • Significant and proven closures experience, knowledge and experience.
  • A ‘can do’ attitude and are always focused on achieving great results.
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders & drive towards a common goal.
  • A calm multitasker who successfully managed, prioritise and executes against deadlines in a rapidly changing environment.
