Our manufacturing client based in Trafford Park are looking for a Project Engineer to join their manufacturing business on a permanent basis. The person in this role will facilitate operational and commercial performance of a designated customer. The role is responsible for planning, coordination and delivery of services in accordance with contract requirements, safety standards and performance targets. Working within a matrix environment the Project Engineer ensure effective collaboration between internal functions and outward facing roles (Supply Chain and commercial) to deliver programme outcomes on time, within scope and to budget.
Project Engineer key responsibilities:
- Lead the end to end operational and commercial delivery of the assigned customer programme. li>Work closely with the Contract Manager to ensure contractual obligations are fully understood, met and exceeded.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams including planning, production, engineering, quality and logistics to deliver programme milestones.
- Assist in developing and updating short term production schedules based on backlog resource availability and delivery commitments.
- Identify and escalate any delays, material shortages, or equipment malfunctions that may impact turnaround times.
- Support programme forecasting across volume, revenue and cost; ensure timely and accurate monthly reporting.
- Oversee the customer-specific profit and loss account, monitoring performance, ensuring profitability and preventing scope creep.
- Track analyse and act upon key operational and service performance indicators (SLA's, KPI's, OTIF, etc)
- Conduct regular internal programme reviews and support quarterly customer business reviews.

About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and versatile Project Engineer to provide technical and professional support for civil engineering assets during the construction phase. You will ensure that assets are designed, built, and delivered in line with programme requirements, standards, and policies.
This role combines on-site presence and office-based oversight, typically requiring 2-3 days a week on site at locations along the contract corridor. You will perform physical assurance, defect management, PMAFs, and pre- and post-construction assurance activities, occasionally acting as the sole representative on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver technical assurance for civil engineering assets, including structures, tunnels, earthworks, and environmental works.
- Support senior engineers in risk-based assurance of work packages, developing and implementing assurance plans.
