Job Title: M&E Project Engineer
Location: Stevenage
Rate: Up to £500 per day Limited Outside IR35 or PAYE Umbrella
Job Description
A contract opportunity has arisen for an M&E Project Engineer to support the delivery of two non-infrastructure wastewater upgrade schemes. This role is site-based and focuses on the successful delivery of mechanical and electrical work packages from early construction stages through to commissioning and handover.
Reporting to the Project Manager, you will coordinate design queries, oversee installation progress, manage documentation, and ensure smooth delivery across both sites. This is not a tools-based role—it is ideal for a technically competent engineer who excels in planning, coordination and stakeholder management.
What’s in it for you?
This is a long-term framework opportunity with ongoing workload secured for AMP delivery. You’ll join an established delivery team within a strong project environment offering job security, competitive rates, and exposure to major UK water projects.
Responsibilities
You will oversee the coordination and delivery of M&E packages, working closely with designers, subcontractors and construction teams. You’ll manage early site investigation works, review technical submissions, and ensure buildability and safety considerations are met.
You will take responsibility for RAMS, ITPs, and QA documentation, attend design and progress meetings, support procurement, and assist in managing commercial changes and variations. You’ll also provide programme input, support commissioning planning, and promote a strong safety culture on site.
Requirements
You must have experience in a site-based M&E Project Engineer or M&E Coordinator role within the water, wastewater, utilities or heavy process industry. Strong understanding of both mechanical and electrical engineering principles is essential (either bias considered).
You must be confident managing documentation, subcontractors and technical approvals. An engineering qualification (ONC/HNC/HND/Degree) is required, along with CSCS/ECS. Experience working on MEICA projects and familiarity with CDM, RAMS and construction planning is beneficial.

Job Description
Dudley, West Midlands (with UK and international travel)
£38,000 to £2,000 + benefits
You are project driven and like getting things done.
Not just talking about projects, but seeing them through, start to finish.
As Project Engineer you will:
- Turn technical plans into working systems used across industries where precision matters. One week you'll be pulling layouts together, checking drawings and coordinating the next installation. The next, you'll be on site making sure everything runs to plan, solving problems, and keeping customers in the loop.
- Work with people who've been doing this for years, and they'll show you how to deliver complex engineering projects properly. The kind where timing, communication and attention to detail make all the difference.
This isn't a role for someone who wants to hide behind a desk, it's for someone who likes variety, who spots what needs doing before being asked, and who's confident stepping into conversations with engineers, suppliers and customers.
If you can read mechanical and electrical drawings, are comfortable with 2D or 3D design tools like AutoCAD or SolidWorks, and have a head for planning and problem solving, you'll fit straight in.
You'll get to see your work out in the world and know that it's been done right.
As a project engineer you will be rewarded with:
- £38,000 o 2,000 depending on experience
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
- A team who value experience, honesty and pulling together to get the job done
- The chance to build your project management skills with real support behind you
- This Project Engineer position is based in Dudley with travel as projects require. You'll be joining a business with a long history of engineering excellence and a genuine commitment to developing its people.
This role is exclusive to Marshall Harmony. You won't be contacted by any third parties.
If you'd like more info or want to talk it through, just drop us a message or send your CV to the email above.
