The Role:

This role is part of our Saab Seaeye business unit in Fareham.

This role has the responsibility for delivering assigned programs to the requirements of cost, time and quality and for ensuring that Saab Seaeye is recognised as a Project and Program Management Centre of Excellence within Saab UK and the wider Saab business.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the delivery of assigned Saab Seaeye Programs meeting cost, schedule and quality requirements

• Deliver program to customer contractual requirements

• Deliver benefits in line with program business case

• Build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders

• Report project status to internal and external stakeholders including customers and project boards

• Ensure adherence to the applicable Saab Project delivery processes

• Ensure adherence to appropriate risk management and financial control tools during program execution

• Lead, manage and guide a cross functional program delivery team

• Take a leading role in the Saab UK and Saab Group Project Management community

• Support the development, implementation and continuous improvement of best practice program and project management methodologies

• Be a recognised leader by being accountable, holding others accountable and driving delivery

• Enable a collaborative culture by encouraging communication and team work.

• Support the Saab Seaeye organisation generally in developing new business opportunities

• Proactively ensure alignment with other Program Managers across the Saab organisation as appropriate.

• To assess, identify and monitor staff skills and training requirements to avoid exposure and skill shortages to the business.

• To assess and monitor workloads, efficiency, holiday and effectively manage staff resource levels and report potential shortfalls.

• To ensure staff time management is effectively managed in line with company time and attendance procedures.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years of Program or Project Management experience.

• Professional Project Management Qualification (e.g. Prince 2).

• Experience of delivering technically complex projects in the subsea industry, ideally related to the Defence sector.

• The ability to deal with and inspire confidence in multiple senior stakeholder both internally and externally.

The Company that the Project Manager will join:

The Project Manager will be joining a dynamic Construction Consultancy with 3 offices in the UK, but will be based in their Southampton office and working closely with junior and senior Project Managers to drive forward the delivery of exciting schemes in the Residential sector.

The Project Manager will be exposed to schemes that consist of new build and refurbishments with contract values ranging up to 60m.

The Project Manager role:

The Project Manager will bring strong experience leading the delivery of high-value Schemes within the Residential sector. The Project Manager will have the ability to collaborate with the team and external parties throughout all stages of Projects lifecycle ensuring that Projects are delivered on time and within budget.

The schemes that the Senior Project Manager will be delivering are located in London and Southeast.

You will be responsible for:

• Running current/upcoming Project from inception-completion phase
• Communicating effectively with internal/external parties ensuring that Projects are on track
• Liaise with the Assistant Project Managers and Senior Project Managers to resolve any possible challenges faced
• Reporting progress feedback on Projects to Senior Project Managers, Associate Directors and major Stakeholders
• Reviewing costs regularly to ensure Schemes are within Budget constraints
• Facilitating meetings with clients
• Ensure all works are compliant with safety and quality standards

Project Manager requirements:

• Previous experience working for a Construction Consultancy
• Knowledge of working within the Residential sector
• MRICS or MAPM Chartered is preferred
• A relevant BSc/MSc in Construction industry would be ideal
• Previous experience running schemes from inception-completion
• Previous Employers Agent experience

The Role:

This role will be part of Saab Seaeye, our underwater robotics business based in Fareham.

The role will be responsible for the delivery of assigned Saab Seaeye Projects meeting cost, schedule and quality requirements for current projects and future generation projects.

• Together with the Program Director and Program Manager, initiate and start up new projects ensuring valid business cases are developed.

• Plan and structure Projects to the appropriate level of detail at work package, activity and task level reflecting the governance requirements of the appropriate Saab project delivery process.

• Report Project status and escalate issues to the Program Manager and Project Steering Group as appropriate.

• Track and report Project costs and deliverables, explain variances to plan and implement appropriate countermeasures as required.

• By working with the relevant departments ensure competent resources are identified and assigned to the Project as required to enable successful program execution.

• Ensure adequate Project risk management activities are conducted including risk identification, mitigation and escalation as appropriate.

• As appropriate to the project scope, ensure Saab Seaeye's customers are kept informed and aware of project execution status.

• This role is very much office based, but you'll still have the chance to get out and about.
• You'll be overseeing anything from one large scale mechanical and electrical / M&E project, such as a job in the Falklands, through to three smaller ones at a time. Sometimes that means heading off to sites around the UK, staying over for a night and making sure everything's running smoothly. When that happens, you can choose to get paid for your travel time or claim it back as holiday - a nice bit of flexibility you don't see every day.
