Role Overview

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Project Coordinator to oversee and coordinate fire safety projects, particularly related to fire stopping and fire doors. This role involves end-to-end project management—from scoping and contractor sourcing to client liaison, performance monitoring, and final project sign-off.

Key Responsibilities

·    Define and confirm project scopes in line with client requirements and relevant fire safety standards.

·    Source, vet, and appoint contractors for fire stopping and fire door works.

·    Liaise with clients throughout the project lifecycle, providing updates and addressing any queries or concerns.

·    Ensure contractor compliance with health & safety regulations and fire safety legislation.

·    Monitor progress and performance , ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to a high standard.

·    Conduct site visits as needed to assess progress, quality, and compliance.

·    Manage project documentation , including RAMS, permits, and installation records.

·    Review and sign off on completion reports and ensure all certification and supporting documents are received.

·    Work closely with internal teams to coordinate resources and share project updates.

Requirements

• Proven experience in project management, compliance, or fire safety-related projects.
• Knowledge of fire stopping and fire door regulations (e.g., BS 476, BS EN 1634, BM TRADA).
• Ability to manage multiple contractors and projects simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong organisational and reporting skills.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to (if required).

Desirable Qualifications

• FIRAS or BM TRADA accreditation or experience working with certified contractors.
• NEBOSH, IOSH, or other health and safety certification (would be advantageous)

**Education, Professional Qualifications Requirements**
The individuals proposed for the role will ideally demonstrate the following:
+ A minimum 2 years of proven experience in a consulting environment providing a full spectrum of PM services including chairing meetings, minuting or proactively engaging in discussions, developing the PEP, progress reports, and tender documentation. General post contract management and administration, proactively engaging with relevant stakeholders, being aware of the scope of service and ensuring we deliver within the agreed parameters.
+ A relevant degree such as in project management, engineering, environmental science, construction, or relevant subject. Alternatively, relevant experience in industry would be considered acceptable for exceptional candidates.
+ Demonstrable experience and knowledge of NEC3 and NEC4 contract management
+ A project management qualification such as APMQ or PRINCE2 would be desirable.
+ An associate member of a related professional body preferably chartered (APM, CIOB) would be desirable.
+ You may be required to undertake and successfully complete security screening checks.

We are seeking a number of Project Manager's to join our Environmental Project Management Team. You will play a key role where you'll be responsible for supporting the delivery of a diverse and exciting range of environmentally led projects across the UK in both the public and private sectors. **Your Team**
You will be part of our wider Project Management and Commercial Management Team (PMCM), made up of over 400 professionals across the UK and sit within our Civil Infrastructure and Utilities Group. **What we will be looking for you to demonstrate.**
+ Professional qualification in project management, quantity surveying and/or an engineering discipline.
+ Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Maths (STEM) or similar disciplines;
+ Undertaken NEC accreditation and attained the necessary technical and practical skills to lead and administer NEC Contracts;
+ Membership of professional institutions such as: Association for Project Management (APM), Project Management Institute (PMI), Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) or Member of Institute of Civil Engineers (MICE);
+ A background in water, linear infrastructure and/or environmental projects would be beneficial, but our focus is upon your ability and desire to develop your project management career to its full potential and demonstrate agility and transferability;

As a Project Manager at WSP in the PMCM Rail team you will be responsible for enabling the delivery of complex rail projects of regional, national, and international significance. + Engaging with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, local authorities, and community groups.

+ Managing contract in accordance with contract rules of engagement (including NEC3 & 4).

+ Being a safety leader, driving safety performance and compliance with Construction Design Management (CDM) regulations. Discharge CDM duties as required by the client.
+ Ensuring all activities are conducted in a safe and environmentally responsible manner, adhering to corporate governance and standards.
+ Defining project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with client and stakeholders.
+ Liaising with Planner in developing detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and risk management.
+ Overseeing project execution, ensuring adherence to project plans and schedules.
+ Monitoring project progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions.
+ Driving innovative design and construction solutions and implement processes to enhance project efficiency and productivity. Evaluate and integrate new technologies and methodologies to improve project performance.
**What we will be looking for you to demonstrate.**
+ A degree in a relevant engineering or management discipline (such as project or construction management, engineering, science, or building).
+ Chartered membership of a relevant professional body, or nearing completion of this status would be advantageous.
+ APM / MSP / PMI / PRINCE2 / Six Sigma certifications are considered beneficial.
+ Working experience of managing NEC3/4 contracts
+ Experience in project management, including Technical and Project management and Project Controls.
+ Experience working on significant projects with demonstrated client-side project delivery (design and build).

As part of the Environmental Project Management team, you will be a visible environmental leader for WSP. Reporting to the Environmental Project Management Team Leader, your work will focus on project delivery in a senior project leadership capacity, typically as the designated Project Manager or Project Director. You will lead multi-disciplinary projects for our Earth & Environment business, some led by Environment and some as part of wider multi-disciplinary and engineering project teams.

**Role Summary**
Leadership: For large, complex, and high-value multi-disciplinary projects, you will act as the Environmental lead project manager. You will be responsible for ensuring the implementation of the fundamental aspects of project management, including programme, commercial, and quality, whilst promoting a focus on health and safety as well as inclusion and diversity.
Team Management: You will form and manage high-performing project teams, inspiring and energising them to deliver exemplary work.
Environmental Principles and Expertise: You will be responsible for the delivery of environmental principles on projects including regulatory compliance, mitigation and management of environmental impact, stakeholder engagement, and sustainability. Additionally, you may oversee baseline data management, survey planning, and the interface with enabling works. A robust working knowledge of key environmental disciplines and consultancy services is essential.
Project Governance: You will actively manage project change and risks, ensuring that project governance is adhered to and projects are delivered compliant and optimised.
