Job Type: Full-time, Temporary (6-month contract)
About the Role
We are looking for a Project Supervisor (Mechanical) to join the Property, Design and Maintenance team on a temporary basis . This role plays a vital part in managing building and maintenance projects across the corporate estate.
You'll act as the go-to technical expert for Mechanical Building Services Engineering , ensuring compliance, quality, and efficiency across all assigned works.
This role is ideal for someone with strong knowledge of mechanical systems in public/commercial buildings and experience managing or overseeing contractors, consultants, and compliance frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
Manage mechanical building services projects across the corporate estate
Provide specialist technical advice in areas such as:
Heating and hot water generation
Cold/hot water services
Air conditioning systems
Commercial kitchens
Water hygiene and legionella control
Prepare reports, estimates, specifications, and schedules for projects
Ensure all works meet legal, safety, and quality standards
Support lift inspections and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and codes of practice
Act as a key advisor to the Corporate Landlord, ensuring assets are managed to ISO 55000 standards
Reporting Structure
You will report directly to the Building Surveying/Engineering Manager , and may supervise agency staff, consultants, or contractors on a project-by-project basis.
Requirements
Strong experience in mechanical building services
Knowledge of water hygiene, legionella legislation, and health & safety standards
Ability to manage technical projects and coordinate external contractors
Excellent communication and reporting skills
Relevant mechanical/building services qualification (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent)

Role Overview:
The Project Supervisor will serve as the primary on-site representative, acting as the key liaison between our client and appointed contractors. This role is vital for ensuring that all infrastructure and facilities projects on site are delivered safely, compliantly, and efficiently. The successful candidate will drive project progress, uphold health and safety standards, and facilitate seamless communication between all stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Oversight & Coordination
Represent Project team on-site, supervising the daily activities of all contractors.
Ensure project delivery aligns with scope, schedule, and quality standards.
Coordinate logistics, site access, and work sequencing to minimise disruption.
Monitor site progress, identifying and escalating any risks, delays, or deviations.
2. Health, Safety & Regulatory Compliance
Ensure full adherence to HSG47 Units 1 and 2 guidelines, especially regarding excavation and service avoidance.
Enforce site-specific health and safety requirements and ensure contractor compliance.
Conduct or assist with inductions, toolbox talks, and safety briefings.
Address unsafe practices promptly and ensure corrective measures are implemented.
3. Stakeholder Engagement
Act as the main contact between Project team and all contractors on-site.
Organise and lead regular coordination meetings, ensuring accurate documentation of decisions and action points.
Provide timely updates to the Projects team regarding project status and issues.
Promote effective collaboration between, contractors, and other involved parties.
4. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain thorough records of on-site activities, including permits, RAMS, daily logs, and photos.
Review and validate contractor documentation such as risk assessments and method statements.
Assist in compiling project close-out documents and identifying lessons learned.
5. Quality Control
Monitor workmanship to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
Identify and report quality issues or non-conformances, supporting timely resolution.
Ensure all completed works meet or exceed client expectations.
Required Qualifications & Experience Essential:
Valid CSCS card relevant to the role
SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme)
HSG47 Units 1 & 2 certification
Proven experience supervising construction or infrastructure projects, ideally within live operational environments
Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations and safe systems of work
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
First Aid at Work certification
Experience in secure or critical environments (e.g., data centres, financial services)
Key Competencies:
Highly organised and solutions-focused
