1st Step Solutions are currently recruiting for an experienced M&E QA Manager in London. The ideal candidate must have previous commercial experience with a Tier 1 M&E Contractor.

In this role you will manage the safety, technical standard and quality of works undertaken within the business unit/site, including design and drawing reviews, supports and fixings, and adherence to the quality control management system.

Duties:
- Demonstrate appropriate health and safety awareness, ensuring the safety first and foremost is visible and alive through all project activities.
- Undertake factory testing of major items of plant and equipment, reporting defective materials and ensuring corrective action.
- Manage cross departmental risk mitigation processes and procedures.
- In conjunction with project management, ensure all operatives hold the necessary qualifications and competencies.
- Ensure manufacturers training is undertaken on site before installation.
- Maintain and manage local records where required and promote best practice.
- Ensure notifications from SHE and central engineering are disseminated to all operations teams.
- Carry out tool box talks and presentations as required.
- Review and comment on work-in progress design drawings to ensure accurate and incorporated.
- Ensure the inspection and test plan is produced, maintained and monitored to comply with industry standards/legislation.
- Ensure appropriate test records and certifications are produced and test equipment is suitably calibrated and certified.
- Undertake regular site inspections and produce site specific QC audit reports, highlighting non-compliance, quality defects and trends.
- Ensure commissioning activities are carried out in accordance with legislation.
- Ensure all snag defects have been completed as required by the main contractor.

Requirements:
--Hold a current CSCS Skilled card in mechanical or electrical trade.
- SMSTS/SMSTS.
- Experience on working on large commercial projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing and monitoring an extensive quality control system across multiple disciplines.
  • Creating detailed and comprehensive processes in accordance to company standards.
  • Conducting both internal and client QA meetings to highlight issues and offer solutions.
  • Track performance amongst internal team and subcontractors, highlight patterns to present findings to directors.
  • Review all quality documentations and clarify they are in accordance with all relevant standards.
  • Assist the construction team with support relating to the quality of install and inspections.

Location: Hammersmith (4 days on site, 1 day remote)

We're looking for an experienced Software Testing & Automation Specialist to join the digital product team and design and implement from scratch an automated UI testing framework for a bespoke ecommerce / complex web platform as the sole test consultant. The role focuses on designing and implementing a UI acceptance testing strategy and automation solution for a bespoke ecommerce platform built on a Microsoft .NET stack, currently tested manually by engineers and product owners.

You'll deliver a maintainable, pragmatic, and scalable automation framework that enables the team to improve efficiency, reduce risk, and enhance release quality while ensuring it can be easily maintained and extended by non-specialists/non testers once your contract ends. Successful candidates must have similar experience in designing and implementing from scratch an automated UI testing framework for ecommerce / complex web platforms.

  • Analyse current manual testing processes and identify opportunities for automation.
  • Recommend and implement automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, BrowserStack, Testim).

  • Strong knowledge of claims and underwriting operations, including file documentation, process flows, and regulatory requirements.
  • Background working within the Lloyd’s/London Market.
