As Quality Auditor you will work closely with all teams to ensure that all product is produced as per customer specifications. Complete quality records daily or against the agreed frequency detailed in the product specification. Daily completion of quality start up and completion checks. Daily production quality checks such as torque tests and product weight checks, paperwork checks, ensuring all batch codes and dates are entered and correct.

This will suit a food manufacturing QC QA who can make decisions on quality, has good knowledge of HACCP and sampling practices, excellent communication at all levels and able to manage and work effectively within a busy team. Good IT skills are essential and full driving licence are also needed.

Our client based in Elsham, Brigg is a well-established business that provides packaging solutions into the healthcare sector. They currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced QA to join their team as soon as possible!

This is a permanent opportunity, working a 4 on 4 off shift pattern of 2 days, followed by 2 nights (6am-6pm / 6pm-6am), with average weekly contractual hours of 42 per week.

The basic annual salary for the role is 29,331 per annum, with the opportunity for overtime at enhanced rates. The company also offers a quarterly Gainshare scheme, up to 5%.

The purpose of the role is to provide support to the factory Quality System as directed by the Quality Manager.

Duties will include:

Carry out internal Quality audits of the quality systems including product, 5's, hygiene, glass and Insects audits
Supervise quality records and retained samples
Organize materials in quarantine, maintain records, and notify relevant personnel
Control of positive release
Carry out material analysis for product development and corrective action investigations
Perform product inspection / testing for:
- Materials in Quarantine
- New materials / development
- Others as directed
And report results to Quality and Technical Manager
Input non - conforming material information on to the computer for reporting purposes
QA Administration work as assigned
Other projects as assigned including WCM

Quality Assurance Technician

The Quality Assurance (QA) role supports the Technical Department in ensuring that food safety, quality, and compliance standards are met throughout the production process. This is a hands-on position requiring attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and a proactive approach to maintaining high standards across production areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete and verify all quality and technical documentation, including start-up checks, batch codes, and temperature logs.
  • Monitor production lines for product quality, correct labelling, and specification compliance.
  • Check ingredients, raw materials, and finished products for shelf life and temperature accuracy.
  • Conduct hygiene, GMP, and PPE compliance checks across all departments.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of HACCP and BRC systems.
  • Perform testing such as ATP, gluten, and environmental swabbing as required.
  • Investigate and close out customer complaints in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Maintain up-to-date supplier and service provider documentation and certifications.

Experience & Skills Needed

  • Proven experience in a Quality Assurance or Technical role within a food manufacturing environment (chilled or ready-to-eat preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of HACCP, BRC standards, and UK/EU food safety legislation.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Confident communicator, able to work collaboratively across production and technical teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to working hours and business needs.
  • A qualification in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field is desirable.

What you'll be doing
Shift Pattern: Night Shift Tues-Sat 7pm to 3am
As QA Supervisor on the night shift you will lead a quality assurance QA team to verify that all materials including finished products are safe and conform to all relevant specification, legislation and customer requirements.

  • Working closely with the Nights Production Manager to ensure the production of safe, legal food.
  • Complete audits and key performance indicators and monitor the consistency of outputs across the team for compliance purposes
  • Train the team to ensure that new process and procedures are adopted
  • Building production team capability to improve communication and understanding of technical standards
  • Investigating customer complaints or any non-conformance raised internal or externally to provide data which informs resolution
  • Organise organoleptic panel to ensure consistent quality
  • Ensure that a safe working environment exists for all colleagues and that as a minimum the department meets the standards set out in the Health Safety and Environment policy
  • Managing the nights QA team, ensuring tasks are completed in line with schedules and trackers.
  • Monitoring of micro results and initiating any investigations as required.
  • Working closely with the hygiene team to ensure swabbing and hygiene audits are completed in line with schedules
What we're looking for
  • Flexibility required to support hygiene audits
  • Ideally educated to Higher National Diploma level and/or experience within a similar role in food manufacturing
  • Experience of managing a team and leading people
  • Holds a Level 2/3 food safety certification
  • Basic knowledge of weight legislation and allergen awareness/ practical management of allergens
  • Experienced working with computer systems
  • Understanding of internal audit process and technical key performance indicators
