Responsibilities:
- Verifying the conformity of aerospace parts, assemblies, and sub-assemblies to engineering drawings and customer requirements
- Completing detailed and traceable inspection records
- Supporting production teams with batch verifications and first-off inspections
- Compiling First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs)
- Performing inspections throughout the manufacturing and supply chain process
- Reporting and escalating non-conformances, and supporting root cause investigations
- Actively participating in Continuous Improvement and New Product Introduction meetings
Requirements
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Solid experience in inspecting precision components
- Familiarity with inspection tools, CMM equipment, and industry measurement techniques
- Experience in aerospace or pharmaceutical environments preferred
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Confidence to challenge and escalate quality issues
- HND or equivalent qualification, with a good grasp of imperial and metric systems would be desirable.

- A competitive basic salary of £32,000 - £40,000 dependent on knowledge and experience plus an enhanced shift premium.
- 39 hours worked over 4 days (5:00 pm – 3:15 am), additional shift premium paid at time and one-third for hours worked between 6:00 pm and 3:15 am.

In this role you will need to hold an expert understanding of chemistry- a completed or in progress Masters/PhD is preferred but not required. About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Inspector to join our night shift team within a leading aerospace manufacturing environment. This role is key to maintaining high-quality standards and ensuring components meet exacting specifications throughout the production process.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform quality and inspection checks on components at all manufacturing stages to meet customer and industry standards.
- Complete First Article Inspections (FAI) and produce accurate inspection reports.
- Support the Right-First-Time philosophy by identifying, analysing, and resolving quality issues.
- Assist with root cause analysis, 5Y investigations, and SPC data collection.
- Conduct and support internal audits in line with ISO 9001 and ISO 5001 standards.
- Manage calibration and maintenance of all inspection tools and measuring instruments.
- Support continuous improvement projects using lean tools such as 8D and Kaizen.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to enhance product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
Skills & Experience
- Background in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Skilled in using precision measuring tools including verniers, micrometers, bore micrometers, height gauges, and DTIs.
- Proven experience producing First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).
- Familiarity with machining, fabrications, and surface treatment processes.
- Experience working to ISO 9001 / ISO 5001 standards.
- Attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Desirable:
- CMM experience (training can be provided).
- Experience with FMEA, APQP, PPAP, and NADCAP processes.
- Knowledge of chemical and special processes.
- Previous internal auditing experience.

About the Quality Assurance Technologist job
The purpose of your role will be to meet BRC and customer requirements by maintaining high standards of product safety, quality, legality, traceability, hygiene, and housekeeping.
Key tasks
- Maintain Standards by monitoring hygiene, housekeeping, food safety, quality, legality, allergen control, and traceability.
- Carry out internal audits (e.g., glass, blades, hygiene, GMP) and report any non-conformances or issues.
- Handle product or supplier issues, assist with customer complaints, and support quality and technical activities.
- Organise product testing, taste panels, and lab work, and work closely with other departments to ensure products meet specifications.
About You

The shift pattern is 6:00am to 2:00pm with a 30 minute paid break, Monday to Friday.
