**Job Description Summary**

The Manufacturing Quality Manager is responsible for overseeing the quality control processes and EHS within the manufacturing facility.
As a visible member of the manufacturing leadership team you will inspire those around you and be responsible for delivering operational excellence in the SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost) framework.
In this role you will ensure that all products meet or exceed customer expectations and comply with regulatory standards.
You will lead the quality team, develop quality controls, and collaborate cross-functionally to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Under the Managers leadership the quality team will be the first port of call for production support and with the aim of keeping the line moving.
The role is a pivotal position in a fast-paced environment that requires both technical expertise, strong leadership, and clear communication. Ultimately leading the Manufacturing Quality team to create a strong quality and safety culture with engaged and motivated staff while maintaining strong working relationships with all stake holders (internal, external, and customers).
**Job Description**
Responsibilities:
**1. Quality Control Management:**
+ Develop and implement comprehensive strategies and procedures to meet manufacturing standards.
+ Ensure compliance with industry regulations, standards, certifications and customer requirements.
**2. Team Leadership:**
+ Lead and develop a culture supportive of the GE Vernova Way, ensuring effective communication across the Quality organization.
+ Ensure the team understand and are aligned to operational goals.
+ Lead, mentor, and manage the quality control team, fostering a culture of quality, safety and continuous improvement.
+ Conduct regular training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge within the team.
**3. Process Improvement:**
+ Identify areas for process improvements and implement solutions to enhance product quality and efficiency.
+ Implement and maintain a quality improvement process, targeting reduction in product and process variation using metrics to measure performance.
+ Use data-driven analysis to monitor quality and safety metrics and drive corrective actions.
**4. Cross-Functional Collaboration:**
+ Work closely with engineering, production, and supply chain teams to ensure quality standards are maintained throughout the manufacturing process.
+ Facilitate communication and collaboration between departments to address quality-related challenges.
**5. Customer Focus:**
+ Address customer quality concerns promptly and effectively, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
+ Protect customers through structured problem-solving, solving problems quickly with rigor and transparency.
+ Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions for non-conformances.
**6. Documentation and Reporting:**
+ Maintain detailed documentation of non-conformance reports, audits, and inspections.
+ Prepare and present actionable quality performance reports.
Qualifications and Experience:
+ Bachelor's degree in an Engineering, Quality Management, or related field.
+ Significant and demonstrated experience in quality management within an Engineering manufacturing environment.
+ **Desirable** Certified Quality Management or Certified Qualified Engineer.
+ **Desirable** Qualified as a Lead or Internal Auditor in the ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
+ Experience of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA)
+ Leadership and team management experience in Quality-focused industries, e.g. automotive, aviation, and defence.
+ **Desirable** knowledge of ISO14001 environmental management.
+ Recognised UK Safety Qualification: NEBOSH General Certificate, IOSH Managing Safely, or an equivalent certification is desirable.
Skills:
+ Interpretation of technical drawings, specifications, charts etc. with an ability to recognise and understand the importance of tolerance and accuracy.
+ TQM/TQC, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing.
+ Proven ability to analyse complex data and drive process improvements.
+ Demonstrable experience of standardised problem-solving techniques such as "8D", "5 Whys", "FMEA" or similar recognised engineering problem solving techniques.
+ Implementation of Statistical Process Control.
Working Conditions:
+ This position may require occasional travel to supplier or customer sites.
+ Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including standing or walking for extended periods.

**Key Responsibilities**
+ Lead and manage the site manufacturing quality team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
+ Act as the focal point for manufacturing quality KPIs across Fulfilment, Engineering, Sourcing, and Manufacturing teams.
+ Own and align critical quality documentation including ITPs, CTQs, and PPAPs.
+ Champion manufacturing Risk Analysis using insights from previous projects to proactively mitigate future risks.
+ Drive root cause analysis, corrective actions, and implementation of best practices to resolve quality issues efficiently.
+ Support internal audits and ensure compliance with internal and customer quality standards.
**Qualifications and Experience**
**A strong background in transformer manufacturing is highly preferred** , particularly with hands-on involvement in quality processes, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration in a production environment.
+ Significant experience in operational excellence or manufacturing quality leadership.
+ Solid understanding of Quality Assurance methodologies and tools, including DFMEA, PFMEA, 8D, and Lean Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt desirable).
+ Internal Auditor qualification would be highly advantageous.
+ Experience leading small teams (3-5 people) with proven capability to mentor and develop team members.

The Manufacturing Quality Manager will oversee all activities related to the Quality Plan and ensure compliance with the Quality Management System across various projects. This role will report to the Head of Quality in the UK.

Functions and responsibilities
  • Lead the Manufacturing Quality team.

  • Maintain up-to-date quality documentation in digital files.

  • Monitor and verify changes implemented by Manufacturing and own Modification Forum.
  • Assist manufacturing with analysis and problem-solving as required.
  • Conduct analysis to produce indicators, statistics, and process improvement plans.
  • Provide multi-site support for internal and final inspections with clients, and other activities requiring quality verification.  Promote a quality culture throughout the company
Training required
Required professional experience

   Degree Qualified or significant experience in a relevant field.

p >Knowledge of quality tools (e.g. root cause analysis).

Extensive knowledge of ISO 9001 standard, IRIS standard and technical regulations applicable to the rail sector (EN, BS).

Strong IT skills, familiar with Microsoft packages.
