- Proficiency in using digital inspection tools, video conferencing software, and standard office applications.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for clear and concise reporting and virtual interaction.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet strict deadlines.
- A proactive approach to identifying potential risks and recommending preventative measures.
- A relevant qualification in Food Safety, Public Health, or a related scientific discipline is highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project inspections and technical requirements are met.
- Ensure compliance to ISO 3834, EN 1090, ISO 9001.
- Collate and analyse data, support audits, and liaise with clients.
- Utilize extensive hands-on experience in Quality Management Systems and Principles.
- Interpret and accept contract NDT reports on behalf of the business.
Skills and Experience:
- CSWIP 3.1 certified
- Auditor certified
- PCN Level 2 certified
- Time-served apprenticeship, HNC, HND or equivalent
- Knowledge of ISO 3834 (welding inspection) and/or EN 1090 advantageous
- Experience with LTQRs advantageous
Location : Thirsk
Contract: 12 month FTC - Fixed Term Contract
Salary: circa £40k - £45k (dependent on experience)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week. 07.45 – 16:45 Monday - Thursday, 7.30 - 12:00 Friday.

The role of the Quality Control is to ensure that our product is always acceptable and meets the correct, Specification as well as promoting the benefits of high standards of Product Quality. Quality Control will aid the efficiency of the business by ensuring that the product is right first time. This role includes taking product samples and supporting the wider quality/ technical team.
Your main accountabilities will be to:
- Measure quality assurance at production level against confirmed specifications
- Work alongside Production Operatives to ensure quality is a pivotal part of daily tasks
- Complete and be accountable for accurate Quality and Due Diligence records
- Escalate quality or food safety concerns immediately to the appropriate level.
- Ensure that the correct product is packed
- Support the quality auditing process
- Take samples during and after production and carry out quality testing.
Shift pattern 4 days x 12 hours week 1, 4 nights x 12 hours week 2. 7am to 7pm or 7pm to 7am.
Requirements- Experience in a retail/food manufacturing environment.
- Experience in quality assurance/quality control/ food safety/ environmental standards/ organics.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Working experience within a similar role and/or a food environment.
- Awareness of the importance of food safety

About the role
This is a fixed-term, onsite position based in Portadown, Northern Ireland , running until the end of August 2026 , with the potential for extension.
The site specialises in the production of cheese blocks, sliced cheese, and grated cheese bags.
As a Quality Control Technician , you will support the technical team by conducting routine inspections, monitoring production processes, and ensuring compliance with food safety standards. You’ll assist with audits, equipment calibrations, data reporting, and documentation management. The role also involves cross-functional collaboration to uphold site standards and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
Key responsibilities
As a Quality Control Technician, you will:
Play a key role in maintaining product integrity and food safety standards
Conduct routine inspections and monitor production processes
Support the technical team with problem-solving on the factory floor
Assist with equipment calibrations and preparation for external audits
Carry out internal audits including glass & perspex, pest control, and temperature checks
Trend and report data, including results from the daily Taste Panel
Manage samples, traceability documentation, and ensure technical records are audit-ready
Collaborate with all departments to uphold site standards
Contribute to ongoing quality improvement initiatives across the site
Perform other day-to-day tasks as requested to support quality and technical operations
Qualifications and skills
Experience in a food manufacturing or quality control environment
Solid understanding of food safety standards and regulatory compliance
Familiarity with laboratory testing methods and equipment
Competence in using Microsoft Office and quality management systems (e.g., SAP, QMS)
