You will join Arup as a Senior Consultant working in our technical safety, risk and reliability engineering team with a focus on sustainable development across a range of market and industries. You will be a technical specialist and instrumental in the development of our business, by promoting our service offerings, developing and growing the team of Technical Safety, Risk and Reliability consultants. The types of projects you will be involved range from advisory to engineering solution based technical safety and risk related studies across a range of project lifecycle stages (such as research & development, feasibility to concept and detailed design).

Your role will be client-facing and you will build and foster client relationships through project delivery and work winning. You will guide project teams to advise clients and find a better way to deliver better solutions. You will be working collaboratively with other technical domain experts, in multi-disciplinary design teams to deliver solutions to the unique difficulties our clients face. Is this role right for you?

In this role you will be expected to provide technical safety risk management on sustainable development projects across a range of market and industries as mentioned above. You will advise and/or undertake technical safety and risk related studies such as; hazard identification, hazard management, functional safety assessment, failure modes and effects analysis, fault tree analysis, fire, explosion, toxic release and hazard analysis, modelling and safety evaluations techniques, safety management, and safety case development. You will also get the opportunity to facilitate risk-based workshops with clients, stakeholders, and multi-discipline engineersfor identification of hazards in a multi-discipline and collaborative environment. As a senior member of the team, you will also manage projects, support and mentor junior consultants, conduct bespoke technical safety and risk analyses; carry out peer review and technical due diligence studies.

Requirements:
  • A background in managing and delivering technical safety and risk management projects, including successful client relationship management and business development.
  • Have experience of leading technical safety and risk assessment in the regulated industries (e.g. chemical and process, nuclear, railway, built environment).
  • Be competent in the associated risk analysis techniques, such as hazard identification, hazard management, functional safety assessment, failure modes and effects analysis, and fault tree analysis.
  • Background in safety assessment across the life cycle (feasibility studies, design, procurement, installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance) of plants in the complex systems, infrastructure and/or major hazard facilities.
  • Understanding of relevant international and industry legislation, standards, codes, and guidelines e.g. DSEAR, ATEX, COMAH, RIDDOR, NFPA, API, IFC, CSM RA, ROGS.

Join our vibrant and multidisciplinary Transportation Engineering team. We are currently searching for a Senior or a Principal Systems Safety Engineer to come and join us here at AECOM in one of our offices in the UK and focus on the rail projects as part of the Systems Engineering and Safety Assurance team.

Ideally, you will be an engineer with some railway experience to assist the Principal and Associate within the group and willing to develop in systems safety.

Here’s what you’ll do
  • Development of System Engineering and Assurance plans and processes
  • Support safety and assurance management for projects (i.e. CSM-REA, EN50126)
  • Develop and manage project safety process - development of System Safety Plan, System Definition, management of Hazard Records, working with the wider project team to capture and manage Hazards
  • Stakeholder management – engage and support clients with authorisation bodies and independent assessments
  • Prepare and develop safety requirements/specifications
  • Support the development of Engineering Safety Cases / Safety Justification
  • Develop Project Authorisation Strategies and support projects with the delivery of the applicable Rail Interoperability Regulations
  • Develop scope of works and work packages with clients
  • Participates in multi-disciplinary review of project deliverables
  • Wish to develop in the engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements expectations

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Rail System Safety & RAMS Leader to lead the Arup offering across Technical Services & Transport Portfolios in UKIMEA. The role will encompass developing the current business, leading and growing the team, and technical direction across the area of system safety and RAMS. This will include all aspects of the discipline including assurance and integration with wider rail systems engineering.

The key aspects of the role are as follows:
  • To lead the Arup offering in all areas of System Safety and RAMS.
  • To lead the team based in UKIMEA, monitoring and planning resource needs and ensuring the correct level of skill and capability is brought to each project.
  • To coordinate the activities of the professionals to act both as input to multi-disciplinary and specialist single discipline commissions
  • To provide technical direction, review and sign-off, for work done.
  • To lead the development of the business within UKIMEA and the other regions.

You will lead and engage in promotional activities across the wider industry and motivate others in the project team and within the Group. In a project role you will also act as either a Project Manager or Technical Director.

As the leader you will oversee the production, checking and approval of high-quality design solutions, reports, specifications and drawings which cover a range of project requirements. To do this you will initiate and lead on management processes to assist in the efficient delivery of our services and deliverables, monitor and review progress and performance, ensuring that project timescales and targets are met. You will liaise with other Arup rail staff in the region and overseas.

As part of the senior management team you will contribute to winning and delivering more work of both expert and mainstream type to Arup, across the region and globally. Liaising directly with major clients regularly you will contribute in the growth of rail capability in Arup by engaging with them and demonstrating our capabilities.

You will select and prepare bids, tenders, and conditions of engagement, and control investment spend in the bid/tendering process.

With your established and future network of contacts in rail you will promote strategic relationships and deliver business opportunities with the LTA, contractors, local authorities, train operators, partners, and academia in UKIMEA and overseas.

We pride ourselves on technical quality and innovation and you will provide excellent engineering skills and technical knowledge of railway design and System Safety and RAMS, within an environment of high quality and timeliness. You and colleagues will provide technical guidance for the production of feasibility studies, scheme and detailed designs, together with advice, feasibility, design, operation and input to the design and construction of rail and related projects in the region and globally.

You will develop, mentor, shape and guide less experienced staff and support management colleagues in their technical development. Our skills networks are global and you will interact with these and encourage staff to contribute and benefit from them.

  • Experience in UK and overseas rail industry.
  • Background as a System Safety and RAMS Leader for rail design and industry research projects, providing excellent engineering skills and technical knowledge of railway design within an environment of high quality and timeliness.
  • Leadership and promotion of strong, strategic relationships and the growth and delivery of business/service opportunities with clients, including Design and Build Contractors, Rail Operators, and Rail Asset Owners.

Role Overview:

  • Own the development and upkeep of risk documentation, including risk plans, hazard analyses, registers, and benefit-risk evaluations
  • Assess design modifications and post-market data to identify potential hazards and implement mitigation measures
  • Chair risk review meetings and collaborate with cross-functional teams (hardware, software, systems) to ensure safety compliance
  • Support regulatory submissions and inspections with accurate, up-to-date risk records


Candidate Profile:

  • 5+ years’ experience in medical device risk management (Class II/III devices preferred)
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 14971, ISO/TR 24971, and familiarity with IEC 62304 / IEC 60601
  • Proven track record of risk assessment throughout the product lifecycle, including post-market evaluation
  • Comfortable with ALM/risk tools such as Polarion, DOORS, Enterprise Architect, or similar
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to work effectively across teams

We’re partnering with an innovative MedTech company in London that develops advanced solutions to improve cancer treatment. They are looking for a Senior Risk Engineer to lead and maintain risk management activities across their medical devices.

Role Overview:

  • Own the development and upkeep of risk documentation, including risk plans, hazard analyses, registers, and benefit-risk evaluations
  • Assess design modifications and post-market data to identify potential hazards and implement mitigation measures
  • Chair risk review meetings and collaborate with cross-functional teams (hardware, software, systems) to ensure safety compliance
  • Support regulatory submissions and inspections with accurate, up-to-date risk records


Candidate Profile:

  • 5+ years’ experience in medical device risk management (Class II/III devices preferred)
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 14971, ISO/TR 24971, and familiarity with IEC 62304 / IEC 60601
  • Proven track record of risk assessment throughout the product lifecycle, including post-market evaluation
  • Comfortable with ALM/risk tools such as Polarion, DOORS, Enterprise Architect, or similar
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to work effectively across teams

This role presents an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, leveraging large amounts of linked and unstructured data within the Third-Party Processing (TPP) Portfolios. The incumbent will be responsible for TPP Risk Management of the European portfolio.
This position requires a highly organised person with excellent analytical capabilities, with the ability to bring an innovative perspective to the strategic and operating requirements of the role.
This person must be able to thrive in a dynamic environment while influencing colleagues from partner organizations, often with conflicting priorities. This position will liaise with key partners including the Sales, Partner Oversight, Risk and Technology teams to create and drive best-in-class strategy.
**How will you make an impact in this role?**
+ Supporting the ongoing management of the consent process for recruitment of large and high-risk sponsored merchants.
+ Help to monitor and analyze portfolio performance to inform risk management and regulatory reporting, maintaining an external lens
+ Help prepare regular updates on portfolio exposures.
+ Help conduct in-depth analysis of both internal and external data sources.
+ Help drive deep-dive analytics and partner across the enterprise to enhance risk management methodology.
**Minimum Qualifications:**
+ Analytical and quantitative skills preferred
+ Balance of strategic and analytic acumen
+ Ability to cope with ambiguity and complexity
+ Proficiency in working with large volumes of structured and unstructured data
+ Programming skills and experience in SQL/SAS, object oriented or functional programming languages
+ Excellent communication skills, including the ability and willingness to present to and work with Executives.
+ Willingness to learn
+ Team player with the courage to share a point of view for the benefit to the organisation
+ Experience within the payments/payment facilitator industry is a bonus

**How will you make an impact in this role?**
Credit Risk Analysts in CRU are responsible for rating and underwriting credit exposures in their assigned region, industry, and business line.
The Analysts' fundamental credit assessment incorporates a thorough review of business, financial, industry and country risk coupled with support from internal and external rating model outputs.
Analysts will also need to show an understanding of the need for credit extension, profitability of the relationship, risk mitigation and program structures.
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ Fluency in English mandatory; at least one other Western European language would be highly advantageous.
+ Bachelor's degree/equivalent in Finance or a related subject.
+ Experience in fundamental credit analysis and / or underwriting of commercial enterprises (1-2 years)
+ Understanding of fundamental financial analysis including the ability to review corporate financial statements to determine key risk drivers, an appropriate probability of default and the ability of the obligor to honour its credit obligations to American Express.
+ Comfortable determining appropriate credit capacity, structuring of facilities, and risk mitigation techniques.
+ Ability to prepare accurate company-specific and industry-wide credit risk memorandums.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
+ Understanding of banking regulations, particularly those imposed by Basel Committee on Banking Supervision.
+ Understanding of current macroeconomic trends and how to provide recommendations to improve the Probability of Default estimation based on the business cycle.

UK Credit Risk Team team's objective is to define and develop credit risk strategies to drive growth and provide good customer outcomes at acquisition and through the customer lifecycle.
The person will be responsible for conducting detailed analysis and implementing new credit risk strategies for UK consumer and small business card portfolio. + Coding skills in SQL or Python with hands-on experience is required
+ Strong technical and analytical skills with the ability to apply both quantitative methods and business knowledge to create insights and deliver results
+ Knowledge of underwriting and consumer/commercial bureau data
+ Good communication and persuasion skills with an ability to translate technical analysis into business strategy recommendations; conceptualize and sell ideas to internal and external partners
+ Ability to build strong relationships with business partners across the enterprise

+ Privacy Risk Assessments: support the business in completing privacy assessments (e.g., DPIA, LIA, etc.) and driving consistent guidance. Issue Prevention: support the Business activities to prevent and resolve privacy issues, granting effective process and controls execution
**Minimum Qualifications:**
+ Experience in Risk/Control Management
+ Privacy knowledge and understanding of Privacy regulations in EMEA
+ Proficiency in English
+ Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality; strong analytical and problem-solving skills
+ Self-motivated, business and customer focused with excellent relationship and organizational skills
+ Aptitude to operate within a policy & process driven environment and to maintain risk management / policy standards
