Job Description
The successful Rail Systems Maintenance Technician Level 3 will be responsible for carrying out reactive and corrective maintenance activities on CCTV, CIS, PHP, PAVA, SISS (Station Information and Security Systems). The role is to work Monday to Friday days and cover TOC stations across West London and along M3/M4.
SISS is essential to ensuring the travelling public are correctly informed and safe as they commute across our customer's rail networks, our maintenance service is critical to functioning of these systems
Rail Systems Maintenance Technician, what youll do:- Daily reactive maintenance activities across SISS and Telephony systems (CCTV systems, IP Networks, Help Points, Screens, Public Address, CIS, PAVA and Wi-Fi)
- Daily, weekly, monthly and annual planned maintenance activities as defined by the Team Leader
- Ensuring SISS assets are well maintained, and station communication faults are reported and fixed
- Utilising field IT equipment to provide real time corrective and planned maintenance data
- Provide detailed reports to enable further investigations of referred faults
Youll have a previous experience within a similar role involving IP, CCTV, Access Control, PA, CIS knowledge or come from an electrical background and ideally have an understanding of Network Rail health & safety procedures/processes.
Rail Maintenance Technician Key requirements:- Have maintenance experience on either CCTV, CIS, PAVA, PHP, Access Control or come from an electrical background
- Experience of working with SLA driven maintenance contracts
- An understanding of using ServiceNow or using IT for updating/closing jobs/reporting
- Full UK Driving Licence
- The job holder will be required to work days, Monday to Friday

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage geotechnical investigations, including desk studies, site reconnaissance, and ground investigations (e.g., boreholes, trial pits, CPTs) for complex rail projects.
- Develop comprehensive geotechnical design solutions for foundations, retaining walls, cuttings, embankments, and tunnel support systems, adhering to relevant standards (e.g., Eurocodes, Network Rail standards).
- Prepare and review detailed geotechnical reports, design calculations, specifications, and drawings.
- Provide expert technical advice and support to project managers, design teams, and construction personnel throughout the project lifecycle.
- Oversee the work of junior geotechnical engineers and site investigation teams, ensuring high standards of technical quality and safety.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including structural engineers, civil engineers, environmental specialists, and construction contractors.
- Manage geotechnical aspects of project risks, identifying potential hazards and developing mitigation strategies.
- Liaise with clients, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements and approvals are met.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of best practices in geotechnical engineering within the organization.
- Ensure all geotechnical designs and site activities comply with health, safety, and environmental legislation.
- Assist in the preparation of tenders and proposals for new rail infrastructure projects.
- Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Professional Chartership (CEng) with a recognized institution (e.g., ICE) is essential.
- A minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in geotechnical engineering, with a significant focus on major infrastructure, ideally rail.
- Proven experience in leading geotechnical design and site investigation for complex projects.
- In-depth knowledge of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering principles.
- Proficiency with geotechnical software such as Plaxis, GeoStudio, SLOPE/W, Rocscience suite.
- Familiarity with Network Rail standards and procedures is highly advantageous.
- Strong project management and team leadership skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage challenging technical problems and deliver innovative solutions.
