Aviation Recruitment experts Optime are seeking an experienced Baggage Handler/Ramp Agent to join a respected team at Luton Airport for the upcoming summer season. This is a full-time position with overtime opportunities.
PLEASE NOTE: APPLICANTS MUST HOLD A FULL VALID UK DRIVING LICENCE
What's on offer:
- Rate of pay : £14.17 per hour
- Shift Pattern : 4 on 4 off or 4 on 2 off
- Hours per week : 37.5 hours per week
- Shifts : Example times below
- Weekly Pay (every Friday)
- Temp to Perm (performance-based)
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Process customers’ luggage, ensuring it is correctly loaded onto aircraft for departure and unloaded upon arrival, ensuring proper weight and balance distribution
- Work both airside and within the Under croft (baggage unit)
- This is a physical role, requiring candidates to be fit and able to lift and move luggage up to 30kg regularly
- Manage downtime between arrivals and departures
- Operate various vehicles and machinery (e.g., mobile stair units for passenger boarding, belt loaders, buggies, tug vehicles)
- Adapt to adverse weather conditions such as rain, snow, or extreme temperatures to ensure safety and efficiency
- Collaborate with ramp agents, ground handling staff, and airline personnel for smooth aircraft turnaround
- Full training provided (5 days classroom-based training and shadowing)
- Full PPE will be provided
Shifts:
The airport operates 7 days per week, and candidates will work on a 4 on 4 off rolling rota (subject to change).
Example shift times:
4 on 4 off rolling :
- Day 1: 03:00AM to 11:30AM
- Day 2: 04:00AM to 11:30AM
- Day 3: 12:30AM to 20:30PM
- Day 4: 14:30PM to 22:00PM

Requirements:
- Full UK Manual Driving Licence (mandatory)
- Strong attention to detail
- Good verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Right to Work in the UK
- Five-year fully checkable reference history
- Ability to pass a Criminal Record Check (CRC)

About the role
Farnborough Airport Limited is looking to recruit an Airport Operations Officer to work as part of the larger Operations function.
Within this role you will work as part of a team to:
- Ensure prompt and accurate responses to all handling requests.
- Coordinate the daily movement schedule for the airport, to ensure optimum use of the operational day while remaining within regulative constraints.
- Ensure relevant regulations are followed and upheld at all times.
- Apply a strong attention to detail in sorting, collating, and transferring information into the FBO’s computer system.
- Review any requirements and requests from Operators / Crews and action accordingly.
- Communicate with incoming and outgoing aircraft and provide all services promptly as requested.
- Provide a safe, fast, and efficient handling of all aircraft movements through the airport.
- Execute clients’ requests including third-party bookings with great attention to detail and without delay (hotel, catering, transport etc.).
- Liaise with all Operators to deliver the highest standards of personalised service without delay to passengers.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders on relevant flight requests.
- Act as the first point of contact for the Crew, representing the airports high standards at all times.
- Maintain a high level of professional services and attention to detail in all tasks.
- Consistently demonstrate and encourage others to adhere to the company values of Proud, Passionate, Ambition and Together in your day-to-day role.

Essential
- Evidence of right to work in the UK.
- Full 5-year employment/educational history required (with no unaccounted-for gaps).
- Must be able to obtain a clear Criminal Record Check (CRC) certificate to the required security clearance level for this role.
- Strong administration and organisational skills.

- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
